"Callie honey, did you want to talk to us?" Lena asked as she walked over and sat on the bed.

"Yea, I want to tell you more about my past before you officially adopt me..." Callie said as she rolled over and sat up now in between Lena and Steph.

"OK...but we already read your file." Steph said.

"No, there's more." Callie said barely making eye contact with her potential mom. "I'm afraid you're not going to want to adopt me..."

"Callie whatever you say is not going to change out minds...we will love you no matter what." Lena said as she leaned in and hugged Callie.

"Please tell us what's on your mind love." Steph said now crushing Callie in a "mom sandwich".

"Well, for a while I lived with my Dad...and he did things to me..." She said now with tears rolling down her cheeks.

"What kind of things?!" Steph said concerned.

"You know..he would drink, and abuse me emotionally, physically, mentally, and s-sexually." She said now with a noticeable amount of tears streaming down her face.

"Oh Callie honey, I'm so sorry." Lena said hugging her harder.

"T-thats not all...it wasn't just me he beat and abused." Callie said.

"What do you mean? There was another foster kid living with you?" Steph asked.

"Y-yea my brother Jude. He's a few years younger than me..." Callie said still avoiding eye contact.

"Does Jude still live with him?" Lena asked.

"Yes that's partly why I wanted to talk to you guys. I know Steph is a cop and I was hoping you could get Jude out of the home. Its really unsafe."

"Oh Callie honey..."

"I know it's a lot to ask but Jude really means s lot to me..he's the only family I have left." Callie said looking up at at Steph. Her brown eyes puffy and full of tears? This is the first time Callie has showed real emotions..or made eye contact. Steph could tell how important he is to her by the tone of her voice.

"Well Callie, I can certainly try ..but there is no guarantee we can remove him from the home." Steph said.

"Ok.." Callie said disappointed.

"So, he really means a lot to you doesn't he?" Lena asked.

"Yea...when my mom died, we went to live with him in a smaller house. Before she died, he never drank. We were a normal, happy family. So after she died...he changed... A lot." Callie said.

"Well always know you are safe here..your brother too." Lena said smiling, Callie sandwiched in between her soon to be moms. It felt weird, but Callie kind if liked it.
