This is my second song-fic. It's from Jack's perspective and to the music and lyrics of Over My Head Cable Car by The Fray. Disclaimer: I don't own Lost or this song, so don't sue me.
I never knew
I never knew
That everything
Was falling through
That everyone I knew
Was waiting on a cue
To turn and run
When all I needed was the truth
Jack sat up in his small 'tent.' He felt a cool night breeze float past the tent as he crawled out of it. Once he was out, he looked over at Kate's tent. No noises came from the people in tents around him... only the wind trying to pull the tarps off of them. He walked over to the shore and sat down in the barely wet sand. He thought of Sawyer saying he loved Kate, of Sawyer making Kate kiss him, of what seemed to be all Sawyer's doing. In the back of his head he knew that it wasn't true... Kate loved Sawyer. Sawyer didn't force Kate to love him, she did it on her own free will. He wished she would just tell him if she was going to be with Sawyer instead of him... maybe it would rid of some of the pain.
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
Eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
He tried to forget the painful thoughts swirling around in his head about Kate. He hated that he loved Kate... it made things so hard. After Sarah he promised himself he would never love again. Alot of good that did. Kate seemed to steal his heart right from his chest. He wanted to forget, but the harder he tried, the more he started to think about her.
Let's rearrange
I wish you were a stranger
I could disengage
To say that we agree
And then never change
Soften a bit until
We all just get along
But that's disregard
Find another friend
And you discard
As you lose the arguments
In a cable car
Hanging above as the
Canyon comes between
He wished the plane had never crashed, never gotten on the plane, never looked for his father, never told the truth about what his father did to the patient while under the influence. If he hadn't, he never would have met Kate. He could be at home, finding another bar to drink away his self pity and sorrows away at. While it still wasn't a wonderful place to be, it sounded alot better than being here, with Kate's emotions beckoning to him, then pushing him away for Sawyer.
And suddenly
I become part of your past
I'm becoming the part
That don't last
I'm losing you and it's
Effortless
Without a sound
We lose sight of the ground
In the throw around
Never thought that you wanted
To bring it down
I won't let it go down
Till we torch it ourselves
He sighed as he finally figured out that it was nearly useless to keep fighting for Kate. She would only torture him until she decided to go with Sawyer, instead of him. Jack also knew that Sawyer would never leave him be if he won Kate. Jack could picture Sawyer, rubbing Kate in his face, like a medal or trophy.
Everyone knows
I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
Eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
Everyone knows
She's on your mind
He stood up and took one last deep breath as he headed to Kate's tent. He had to tell her he loved her before he lost the strength to, and gained the sanity not to.
Yes, I know I left out some parts, but I had to... kind of. Well, this is my second song-fic, so I hope you liked it! PLEASE Review!
