Fiyeraba oneshot, bookverse. She was always beautiful, Fiyero knew that. Of course, Elphie didn't accept it. She was especially shy about her body. She refused to allow Fiyero to look at her when she was bare. One night, he broke that rule as she slept. Their conversation when she finds out he looked is in this. (Mostly fluff/dialogue!)
As she lay there, he smiled. Never when she was awake was he allowed to just look at her. She was far too self-conscious. Of course, he understood (she was green, for Lurline's sake!), but he wished she could just see through his eyes for once. After a night of lovemaking, she seemed to sparkle with sweat. He thought she was like a rose before it bloomed: green, beauty waiting to be discovered.
She stirred, and in her half-asleep state she pulled the thin cotton blanket to cover herself. He whispered her name softly, and she opened her eyes. "Yes, Yero?" she said sleepily. "I just wanted to say . . ." He faltered. If he said what he was thinking, that she was so beautiful at any given moment, he knew she would get mad for looking at her. "You sparkle, you know." he said. "And you're beautiful, especially with the moonlight shining on you . . ."
He rolled over so his head was over hers and kissed her, to soften her anger. "Fiyero, why did you look? You know I can't stand that. I just don't want you to think-" He cut her off. "No, Fae. You know that I think that is nonsense! You are beautiful, Elphaba. You need to know that." She shifted her jaw. "Maybe you think so. But in my opinion, I'm not. Especially without-" She blushed. "C-clothes." He had to smile at her. No matter how many nights they spent like this, she always was so innocent in that way- she couldn't talk about what they did.
"Why are you so shy, Fae?" She shrugged. "I just don't . . . I think it's an odd thing to talk about." Fiyero was quiet for a minute. "Do you think that I don't love you? If the past nights haven't shown you that, then I don't know how to make you see eye-to-eye with me!" She blinked. "I know that you love me. I love you, also, but I don't know why you love me." He smiled. "Well, you'll have to learn."
He kissed her, gently. She kissed back with a passion he'd never noticed before. His hands went to her waist, and hers trailed everywhere. They both smiled, almost simultaneously, and then it was over. He noticed that she was shivering, and he wrapped the blanket around her. He pulled her closer, and their body heat lulled each other to sleep. Elphaba's last conscious thoughts before sleep were happy. "I love him, and he loves me, and I am lucky to have him. He chose me, and everything he has done has proved that I am his." She kissed him on the forehead and slept with a smile on her face.
