He's No Hero
Summary: "There are no heroes...in life, the monsters win."
― George R.R. Martin
Everybody loves the hero.
It's the way of life.
A fact known to all but never really spoken.
The hero draws you in with their good looks
Their charming personality
Their politeness
Their perfection
The hero is the symbol of perfection
Loved by all
Feared by all who oppose him
Te hero always gets the girl and saves the day
There is no exception to this rule.
The hero rises out of the ashes and swoops in to save the day.
The hero is indestructible, nothing can kill him.
The hero never loses
There may be moments when it seems like all is lost.
Like he's going to be defeated.
But in the end he always lands the winning strike
Jacob black was not a hero
He realized it the moment in the woods after Bella came back with Edward.
Sure he may have held her together and protected her
For months
Almost a year
Without asking anything in return
Still that wasn't enough to make him a hero
Because the hero always gets the girl
And Jacob was no hero
He was always a place holder
The one who fights the villain until the real hero comes and finishes the job
He was once again confronted with the truth
That he wasn't the hero of this story
A fact reinforced as he lay alone, injured on his back and heartbroken after the newborn battle
That he volunteered for
Risked his life for
To protect the girl he loved
Who used him, rejected him
Because he wasn't the hero
And the hero always gets the girl
So when he stared at the wedding invitation in his hands
The wedding of the girl he loved to another man
Someone who wasn't even alive
Who had left her once before
Who could kill her
Who would kill her
He crumbles the invitation in his hands and rips it to shreds
Then he ran
Because the hero always gets the girl
And Jacob Black was no hero
