Though Cloud would never admit it (for he knew what teasing Barret and Cid would give him), he had actually enjoyed the date with Aeris. It was nice to have time together and relax with each other's company. Cloud wasn't used to dates, having never went on a real one before but whenever Aeris smiled at him, he felt ready for anything even if that meant taking part in a play.

However, their fun had been cut short when they had discovered that Cait Sith was their spy and he had given the black materia to Shinra. They had no choice but to let him stay with him because he had Marlene and Aeris' mum hostage.

"So what now?" the flower girl asked breaking the tense atmosphere that surrounded them as they walked towards the hotel.

Cloud did not answer and she was not sure if he had heard her anyway. He was barely noticing anything at the moment for he was too wrapped up in his thoughts of how Cait Sith could have outwitted him. He did not even notice when Aeris linked arms with him and rest her head upon his shoulder. They continued their walk again in silence and Aeris was beginning to get uncomfortable. Her eyes glanced around the place in awe. The shimmering lights were amazing and the smell of fresh candy was in the air. As well as something else, which Aeris recognised all too well. She quickly detached herself from Cloud and turned around and this time, he did notice. He turned around to call her back but found that she was already at the stall purchasing something.

Knowing that there was no point in going up there with her, he waited where he was, eyeing her strangely, as she approached with a small paper brown bag. She smiled at him before dipping her hand in and pulling out a thick, golden chip and popping it into her mouth, eyes closing at the texture and taste on her tongue. Her smile grew as she extended her hand, offering him to take one of the delicious delights inside. He made no move for a long moment and Aeris moved to take the bag back when he suddenly stuck his hand in and took one, earning a slight giggle from the girl. They were annoyed and hurt by Cait Sith's actions but at least for now, they could put it to the back of their minds until morning. After all, chips can make everyone feel better.
