In a Heaven Full of Socks
A tribute to Dobby, a free elf
This is the tale of the death of Dobby, a free elf,
Who had no master but his very own self.
But there was nothing for Harry Potter he wouldn't do;
He was loyal and honourable, noble and true.
It was on the mission to rescue his friend,
That Dobby met his tragic, untimely end.
Just as they were all escaping to a place to hide,
A knife meant for Harry hit Dobby instead in the side.
The knife was in deep and its damage thick;
Dobby had no time, his death came quick.
He met the eyes of Harry one short instant,
Before they glazed over, cold and distant.
Harry kneeled down at the elf's side,
Tears streaming, he openly cried.
He buried Dobby with as much honour as he could;
Though it wasn't as much as he really thought he should.
Here lies Dobby, a free elf, the tombstone was engraved,
In tribute to the creature that had many times his life saved.
And there to this day, though the fighting's done,
The enemies defeated, and the battle all won,
Could you still venture and see Dobby's humble grave,
To remember the sacrifice of the elf so brave.
His body lies now in the ground with the dirt and the rocks,
But an elf so great as he is certainly now dwelling forever
In a heaven full of socks.
