Aiolos x Seika New Year's drabble

Sanctuary lay dark beneath the mantle of night. Where torches burned, their lights fell onto white snow. It had snowed just the day before. The air, of course, was freezing cold.

Aiolos and Seika stood in front of the Sagittarius Temple The Japanese was dressed in the warmest clothes she possessed, a woolen cap on her head Aiolos was wearing his Gold Cloth for the occasion.

When Seika had asked him once if he wasn't ever cold wearing just his armor in winter, the Gold Saint had explained that the Cosmos embued in it was keeping him warm. Despite that, Seika hadn't let herself be kept from knitting him a warm scarf. She had even managed to knit Sagittarius glyphs at each end with her modest knitting skills. To her joy, Aiolos was actually wearing it regularly – just like he did right now.

Suddenly, fingers intertwined with hers, which were covered by a glove. Despite that, she could feel the warmth right through the fabric. Even after all the time they were already together, this little gesture of affection made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

„You're not cold, are you?", Aiolos asked as if guessing what she was thinking about.

Seika smiled. „No, I'm not", she assured him. And it was the truth, especially now as his warm hand held hers.

Suddenly, the twelve flames of the Clock Tower sprang to life. They were visible crystal clear in the dark of night.

„It's beginning", Aiolos remarked.

„Hai."

They could have joined the others in the festivities down on the grand plaza. However, since this was the first New Year's Eve they spent together, they had decided to be alone to themselves.

On the clock, the first flame, Pisces, went out.

„Eleven."

The second flame.

„Ten."

The third flame.

„Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. One."

When the last flame, Aries, went out, their lips met. As the fireworks began, Seika closed her eyes, savouring the moment. Never before had she has such a start into the new year. It was pure magic, and that was bound to be a good sign for the future. Or at least Seika decided to view it as such. Her heart gave a little leap of joy.

They broke the kiss, and after exchanging smiles full of warmth and affection, they turned their eyes towards the fireworks.

Saori Athena hadn't been stingy. There were of course „normal" fireworks, but also other, shaped like constellations. The first on the sky was Pegasus, a shower of bright blue sparks in the shape of a winged horse. At the sight, pride welled up in Seika for her little brother.

After Pegasus followed Cygnus, Dragon, Andromeda and Phoenix.

„It's remarkeable what technology can achieve, isn't it", Aiolos murmured.

It struck Seika then that during the thirteen years of his death, he must have missed a lot. But this was not the place for such brooding. The moment was too beautiful for her to allow it to be ruined.

That Saori hadn't held back became clear when the next series of fireworks started. This time, the sparks were golden and they shaped like the constellations of the Zodiac. From Aries to Pisces, each of them glittered on the night sky for a few moments before the next one appeared.

It was gorgeous.

Seika was absolutely captivated by the sight. When the constellations were done and changed to more normal fireworks, two strong arms gently wrapped around her from behind. She hadn't noticed Aiolos stepping behind her, not even that he had let go of her hand.

„Happy new year, Seika", the Sagittarius Saint said and gently pressed a kiss on the side of her forehead.

The Japanese leaned backward, letting herself sink into the embrace. Reveling in the warmth of her beloved.

„Happy new year, Aiolos."
