E/O Challenge: Safe

Maybe this time
The whiskey leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, but I don't care, as long as it numbs the pain; as long as it helps me forget. But no matter how much I drink I can't forget; even in alcohol-induced oblivion I can still see his face, hear his voice; still remember he's gone.
He was my brother, but he was more than that.
He was the one I laughed with, the one I cried with, the one I felt safe with.
He was my best friend.
He was my life!
The whiskey tastes bitter. Maybe this time I'll forget.
