To Where She Runs Off Too

Summary:
Almost every night when the stars dazzled across the dark midnight blue sky painted with no clouds nor sadness, he saw her sit by herself at the edge of the lake… watching the moon's reflection.
A Princess Zelda and Link story.
Just as the sun disappears over the knifed horizon of the orange toned sea, she grabs her cloak and locks her room. She hurries off into the castle's grand kitchen and prepares herself a small home-cooked meal. She then waits for the total darkness of night to succumb and take over the light of day. No one has ever known why or how this has become a habit of Hyrule's Royal Princess.
Walking slowly through the shadows of the night, Princess Zelda hoped to remain unseen. She only wished to be alone at some place every night – deep in the gloomy woods was a small clear pond that captured the beauty of the reflections of the moon and the stars.
The princess took off her cloak and placed it on the ground as like a mat on which she would sit on. She took out a piece of fruit from her woven basket she took from the palace kitchen and looked up at the night sky. Seeing how bright the moon is, she assumed it was quite late and that everyone would be asleep.
Princess Zelda, being a compassionate and selfless individual, thought that she may go about her kingdom and watch over her subjects personally. "I do hope everyone is asleep this hour," she thought to herself. "I do not wish to awaken anyone…" At that moment, Princess Zelda stood up from where she sat, took her cloak and wore it once again, and ventured off.
The princess has never witnessed the streets of Kokiri Village this quiet. Though she was walking along the cold and shadowy streets alone, she found the silence comforting and welcoming. It was just as she had initially thought –the villagers were in peaceful slumber.
She decided to walk around a little more and peer through the windows of some homes. Home after home, she saw humorous poses of people as they slept – how some prefer to sleep with their pets, how some with their mouths wide open, how some whose snores may be heard from the mountains on the other side of the land, and how some slept with those whom they truly care for, such as an old married couple.
A small dainty smile curved on Princess Zelda's lips. Though looking through the homes of other people, seemed eerie or uncanny, she knew her intention was different. Before she continued with her way, she looked back up at the sky once more. The luminous moon still glowed ever so softly, whilst the stars never seemed to fail sparkling.
Just as she continued on her way through the village, a petite house of wood caught her eye. There was a small bright glow, much like of a candle's, coming from inside the house. The princess quickly yet quietly made her way to the window. She glimpsed through and spotted a candle placed atop a wooden coffee table. There laid beside the coffee table was a bow and arrow and a large boomerang.
"Peculiar…" she thought to herself. "Someone must still be awake at this time of night." Suddenly, she heard soft footsteps come from behind a large bookcase placed near the coffee table. She lowered her head from the window yet still continued to peer. Who could still be awake at this hour?
