The Ellimist had left.
Jake was being a 'dad' as Marco put it, and busy was scolding me.
"Now I can fight as The Ellimist," I said, "Double our power!"
"What do you mean?" he said, in his 'trying-to-be-calm-but-obviously-not' voice,
"The Ellimist could have killed you, Rachel" Cassie said calmly.
"Or worse, killed all of us!" Marco yelled,
"Marco, keep quiet, my parents could come home any minute now,"
"What about our rule about not morphing sentient creatures?" Jake asked,
"To hell with all of your stupid rules!" I screeched, "If we want to win this
war, we're going to have to do anything we can to win this war, even break a
few rules."
"She is right, when it comes to war, everything in our power must be done" Ax said
in my defence.
"But that's not the point," Marco said, "That was the most stupid, insane, reckless,
insane and not to mention insane thing you've ever done, morph the Ellimist!"
It was my plan Tobias said. That shut Marco up.
"You're plan?" Marco asked, "You're the one who thought of that stupidly stupid..."
"Marco, chill," Jake interupted, Marco ignored him.
"What, do you get a kick out of trying to hurtle us humans to our death's, Tobias!?"
"Chill!" Jake yelled, "I don't care who's plan it was, it was stupid, and it should
never, ever be done again!"
Jake rarely ever gets angry. Actually, more like never.
"I second that," Marco said.
"Shut up, Marco!" Jake hissed.
There was an awful silence in the room.
The next day was awful. I kept thinking about what had happened the day before.
I kept feeling waves of guilt. And when Tobias came to my window, I told him to
go away. I didn't want to talk to anyone.
"Rachel," my mom said from outside my bedroom door, "dinner's ready,"
"I'm not hungry"
There was a muffled response, "OK"
I got up from my bed and looked in the mirror.
Who cares if Jake says I shouldn't morph the Ellimist, I thought, It's my choice.
I closed my eyes and imagined The Ellimist. Nothing happened. I looked down at my
body, nothing.
"Oh well..." I said, and headed down stairs to eat dinner.
"Rachel!" a girl called Alison called for me in the School hallway.
"Huh?" I said,
"I heard that you like Matt, is it true?" she asked,
"You know I don't gossip, Alison" I said sharply, "Let alone with you,"
"No need to be bitter, Rachel," She said, "Just because I've got style and sophistication,
you don't have to be resentfull,"
I imagined Alison being thrown across the hallway.
Just as soon as that thought appeared in my head, Alison was flying.
"Aaaaaaaaaaah!" she screamed, my jaw hit the flaw.
BAM! She hit a locker. A crowd of kids surrounded her.
I turned and walked away.
"Let's do it!" I yelled,
We were in Cassie's barn, getting ready to go on the mission.
"Everyone full on the plan?" Jake asked,
We all answered.
"Another insane adventure of Mighty Marco," Marco said dryly.
I closed my eyes and pictured my bald eagle morph.
Nothing happened.
No feather patterns. No bones shifting and changing. Nothing happened to my internal
organs.
Everyone was fully morphed.
What's wrong, Rachel? Cassie asked,
"I don't know," I said, "I just can't morph,"
Does this mean we don't have to go on the mission? Marco asked brightly.
"Ofcourse we still go on the mission!" I said,
Try again, Rachel Jake said,
I closed my eyes.
Mothing.
Is that a gray hair? Tobias asked,
"What?"
I looked at my hair. There was a strand of gray hair there.
"Aaaaaaaaaah!"
The Ellimist laughed. I screamed.
