Note: Written very quickly and unbeta'd. Probably going to re-write eventually. Just a short thing sketching out Rogue's character throughout the movies and how she and Kitty managed to so skillfully decieve every one at Xavier's.
And the Winner Is...
Rogue really should have gone into acting. The whole thing was way too easy. The redhaired telepath was no threat because she was too self absorbed to really pay attention to the southern girl. Ororo couldn't read minds, Scott was forever fighting for Jean's attention, and the Professor had more important people to worry about (Rogue was very good at seeming perfectly fine and managed to keep him off her back). The only one who probably could have seen through her act defected to the Brotherhood anyway.
Bobby was dumb enough to think that Rogue actually cared about him and wouldn't touch him because of her skin. Hello to the fact that between absorbing Magneto and the Wolverine (twice for him) she was able to gain control of her powers very quickly. They're both very disciplined and had more than enough life expierence between them to help her out. (She now also knew how to speak German, Japanese, and French although Logan still isn't too sure how or why he knows Japanese and French.) She was able to fool every one.
She let Kitty in on the whole thing because Kitty is a good ally to have. She helps to distract Bobby and the others. Piotr unintentionally helps them out a lot and they're thinking of trying to recruit him. Jubilee is a nice girl and all, but she's too rooted into the institute and they don't think she'd take their plans very well. Then the 'Phoneix' drama happened and Rogue found the perfect excuse to leave. It was just too good to pass up, really. She wonders vaguely if she'd be able to talk Kurt into joining them, and desperately hopes she can; she hasn't felt like she's had a family for a long time and doesn't want to lose him so soon.
Kitty stays behind to work on recruiting others and Rogue leaves to be with the people she knows share her vision. She's going to start with Mystique and then work on reconciling her and Eric. It's time to get the Brotherhood back together, they've got a world to conquer.
