Leaving Us
I watched as you walked out the door, as you left us all behind
You went to find your own path, so clear within your mind.
You told me that you'd never leave, you'd always be with me,
But I can see that it's something that will never be.
It's painful watching as you go, it's me left who's back here,
Pretending that without you I still have got no fears.
You know I'm scared without you, alone and in the dark,
The difference without you, is in contrast, so stark.
But I know it's what you want to do, you want to walk away,
And there really is not any way that I could ever make you stay.
It's not the first time you've left us and it may not be the last,
Those times are behind us now, all back within out past.
I don't want to be the weak one, but I don't want you to leave,
For me and my life you've completely upheaved.
If you ever return, I can't treat you the same,
For your greatest weakness, I feel such shame.
Because you left us stranded, a team member short,
What if without you, we had been caught?
We always worked as a unit, four men as one,
Without all the pieces, we come undone.
The End
