A quick Shika/Ino
A/N: I don't own Naruto, or much of anything besides a small ounce of creativity and this laptop, and way too much free-time.
Just a small ShikaIno that I was suddenly inspired to write as I was just trying to work on another one of my stories. It was written in like 5 minutes so I hope it's decent. I love this pairing, but it's the first time I've tried to write them. Reviews would be much appreciated, thanks and enjoy!
Also, here is some shameless plugging for my other story, "Choose Your Naruto Adventure". I need some voting to see where the story will go next. Not to sound too Captain Planet, but You hold the power!!
"You just don't get it," was the indignant reply from the blonde before him.
"And I don't want to," Shikamaru shot back, settling himself back into the grass. It was just his luck that his annoying teammate had tracked him down to rant about her day, including all the grievances she had suffered from Sasuke, the most popular boy in their village. Shikamaru would have suggested she go talk about girly stuff with Sakura but apparently that friend/rival of Ino's was also part of the day's problem.
"Well, fine then. That's the last time I come to you!"
"Good!"
Shikamaru closed his eyes but soon opened them again when he realized the girl was still just sitting there. He was even more alarmed when he realized she was being uncharacteristically quiet with a solemn, awed expression on her face, as if the meaning of the world had just appeared in front of her. Or more likely in her case, she just realized that bandages are no longer fashionable, he couldn't help thinking. But Shikamaru soon batted that thought away. He knew his teammate was deeper than that, even though she rarely showed that side of herself. The prolonged silence was just too odd, and it was bothering the lazy shirker to action.
"Ino?" he asked hesitantly, not really sure if he wanted to get involved, but pretty certain she would drag him into it one way or another.
"Never mind, Shika," she said with a small smile. "How about we go get some ramen, your treat."
"Okay," the confused boy said. Once again, the female race defied all logic in his mind. Sure he could plot out the next 200 moves but he couldn't figure out the next five words to say. With a much brighter smile, Ino pulled him off the grass and wound her arm through his dragging him to Ichiraku's. Shikamaru was even more shocked when Ino didn't even reply to Sakura's greeting of Hi there, pig-girl. Ino merely waved and continued to drag her teammate down the streets, not stopping until he suddenly found himself on a high stool with her next to him. Bewildered, Shika took a moment to orient himself before turning to the high energy blonde who was studying the menu with an intensive stare.
"Uh, Ino…"
"So I hear the pork ramen is delicious, but I'm thinking miso might be good today as always. What are you getting?"
"Couldn't you have asked Chouji?" he asked instead. Ino only rolled her eyes; trust Shikamaru to ignore the niceties of conversation.
"I picked you instead, so deal." She said, her eye starting to twitch, only now bringing the faint blush on her cheeks to Shikamaru's attention.
"Why?"
"You're the genius, you figure it out."
