I stared at my mother and father with disbelief. "Hold up." I said, putting up a hand to empthasize my point. "You want me to go through a Selection?!" I cried. Mom looked sheepish."it will be a good experience or you, Trinity." She sayed, not sounding very sure.
"Riiggghhtt..." I drawled. Then Dad pitched in," it won't be a normal Selection..." he trailed off when he saw my face. "Wait so I am not even doing this normally!" I said, glaring at my parents. I thought I would at least be able to learn something from my ancesters who had gone through the Selection previously. "Well, in the past young princesses were married off into other kingdoms to secure the ties with other countries." Dad said, pausing to take a breath. "But, that is the way of the past and I don'tthink your mother and I are quite ready to give you up." I didn't know where he was going with this . "So we compromised. The Selection will have men from royal families instead of the people of the kingdom. That way, we will still be able to secure the ties of different countries, and create new ones, but you will have a choice in the matter." He finished. I inwardly groaned. Great, 35 stuck-up royal guys from all over the world. I stood up without a word and walked out of the room. I knew I would do it though, my parents were everything to me and I didn't want to put any more stress on their shoulders since they were charged with making sure the kingdom didn't explode.
I lay on my bed, waiting for my best friend and also my maid to come talk with me. I lay there for the longest time, uncapable of movement. When Stella finally did come to check on me I was fast asleep, snoring quietly, still fully dressed. The next morning I walked into my parents' study, announced that i would do The Selection and promptly walked out. I spent the rest of the day thinking about the boys who would be coming in and reading my latest romance novel. Since I never got out of the castle I had to settle for the story's of others. The latest one was about a girl who had to choose between herself and two different guys. I snorted and mumbled and said under my breath, "honey, honey honey, I have to choose between 35 guys." That night was the Report and I was not looking forward to it. Once all the normal announcments were made Malack Bettacome, the replacement of Gavril Fadaye, said, "Princess Trinity had an announcement for us, or so I'm told." He said waggling his eyebrows. The audience laughed as I left my throne beside my parents, and walked to the chair next to Malack. Malack sat back indiating that I had the floor. I turned to the camera and began my speech. It was almost exactly like what my father said to me. After I finished I stood up, winked and walked off the stage. The rest of the day I spent in the Womens' Room. I'm pretty sure I threw my book at the wall a couple of times when something unexpected happened.
Once I finished the book the heroine chose the guy I wanted her to choose. I got up and did the Funky Chicken. Mymom raised an eyebrow at me over her book, and I Funky Chickened myway over to her. I took her wrist and made her do it with me. She resisted at first but then joined in with me before long we were out of breath and laughing super hard. My father peeked his head in, to see if we were dying and Mom wove him off, he shrugged and closed the door. Later, after I had got another book to entertain myself, i decided to go find Stella and talk about random thing. I found her and we talked and laughed untill it was time for me toget dressed in my bedclothes. For the next 3 weeks I was overrun with preparations for the incoming men.
