The price tells of his past.

I wasn't yet born when my father, High King Peter, and my aunts and uncle disappeared. The years passed and another unfortunate event occurred, the Board demanded my mother remove herself from the throne. The Board seemed to think that my mother was not a daughter of Eve, yet she was. Yet, they believed she was not, therefore, had no right to rule over Narnia or its wonderful inhabitants. I was 12, two years under the minimum requirement to be King in Narnia. During the two years I was not to be king the Board would rule. Many Narnians called this an outrage, they took my mother and I in for over those two years many laws were made against my mother and I. My trainings as a prince were worthless without someone to come and renew Narnia's faith in my ability to rule. The day of my fourteenth birthday was a sad yet joyous day in Narnia.
