Bells and Alarms

The incessant bleeping rang through Serena's ears, rousing her from the warm comfort of sleep. Trying to block it out she burrowed further into her covers. But the sound persevered. So she reluctantly climbed out of bed and dragged her feet over to her desk to turn it off; afterward, on her returning journey to her welcoming bed, a ringing coming from her wardrobe thwarted her intentions. Turning back around she made her way to the devil creature in her wardrobe. Blurry eyed she blindly searched her pockets for her phone. Realizing it wasn't in one of her jacket pockets she was forced to scramble through the pile of clothes she was supposed to put away yesterday. Still unable to find it, she started throwing the clothes out of the armoire getting increasingly angry and less tired. Finally in the corner she found the monster. Turning off the alarm on her phone, she went about turning off the other five she set.

"Seven o'clock, I can have a shower and breakfast, this is going to be a good day." She smiled. She whirled around to meet the eyes of her cat, which resembled a rabbit more than at feline in that moment. Amber eyes stared at her as if she had grown a tail. Scowling at the cat's disbelief at her somewhat organized early start, Serena walked into the bathroom to shower.

Mid-shower a shriek erupted from her mouth, when she realized she had forgotten to do her homework. The previous night the new episode of Sailor V came on, she couldn't just not watch it. Washing off quickly and getting dressed equally quickly she rushed over to her desk and finished her homework.

After scribbling furiously about the difference between communism and socialism. She looked at her clock and realized it was eight fifteen. She was late. Again.

She ran out of her house like a bat out of hell. Agilely dodging her mother, father, brother and judgmental cat.

Making tracks down the street she was quickly halted by what felt like soft stone. In the collision both she and the rock fell. Thankfully she was on top. She quickly realized this was no stone but a man, and this was no ordinary man but her enemy. Darien.

The man who made her blood boil with his baritone. "Hey jerk, you need to be more care…" she started, but stopped herself when she realized her voice was falling on deaf ears. His eyes were closed, and he looked like he was sleeping. "I killed him." Serena whispered to herself. Tears welling up in her eyes and a knot in her throat, she put two fingers on his neck. She felt no pulse. "Oh my god, I killed him," she reiterated this time not in disbelief but experiencing a whole new emotion. True loss. Not simply the kind you feel when you lose a toy as a child or when you break up with a friend or boyfriend you've known for a few months. Placing her forehead on his chest she started to weep and repeated, "I killed him… I killed him,"

"That's not how you check someone's pulse meatball," Vibrated her headrest. His hand came to meet hers on his neck, and then repositioned it in the right spot. "See I'm alive and not an eloquent zombie," Serena reacted by looking up and staring into his deep teasing blue eyes. Quickly she moved up his body and planted kisses all over his face, with one last one on his lips. They stayed like that for what seemed like an eternity.

Interrupted by tutting the two broke their kiss, and when they realized their inappropriate position they got up and brushed themselves off.

Suddenly a bell rang, her school bell. Serena in alarm ran, screaming as to avoid another encounter like the one she just had and to clear a path. Leaving Darien standing there in the middle of the pavement. Two of his fingers touching his lips with a small smile on his face, disregarding the skyscraper sized bump that formed on the back of his head.
