Author's Note: I've been writing a buttload of pieces for the last few weeks, but none of them have been truly satisfying, so I hope this one breaks the trend.

Disclaimer: I don't own anything. All I have goes to my college education.

Sam-centric, AU twist, spoilers from the pilot.

Memory

Sam remembers. He knows it's nearly impossible and he doesn't want it to be true. Sam remembers the fire. He knows the smell, the sound of his father yelling to Dean, he remembers his mom.

He can't remember his mom, shouldn't remember her. Mary Winchester died that night and his memories only begin at the fire. And yet he knows he heard her voice.

Dean says she didn't say anything. He won't ask his dad.

Mary's voice was in his head. He supposes this was beginning of his abilities.

"My Sam, my lovely Sam, lovely, lovely Sam. He will enjoy this. Yes, he will be happy. He will enjoy my little Samuel." And with that, she gave herself up to the fire.

Sam never told anyone and didn't truly remember it until Jessica. He thought it was a dream.

That night, he heard Jessica's voice. "Sam. I planned for this, for all of this. I love you Sam. It's all for you." She too gave herself up to the demon for Sam. It's just not in the way that he always thought.

They each gave themselves up so the demon could have Sam, but little did they know that his brother and his father would rise to the occasion and ruin all of their work.

Sam always thought it was a dream, he'd never been so wrong in his life.
