The Yearly 365 Challenge
Prompt #31 (AU) SuportGroup!AU
"Sit down Veronica." Chic spoke in a low firm tone.
Veroncia frowned darkly into his tight up turn face. "I'm through with this shit." She spoke in a harsh whisper. She didn't need this group .. no matter that everyone from her mother … down to Cheryl told her that she did. But she did respect those whom did need it. She stepped down the isle and nodded tightly to the speaker and headed to the door.
Chic sighed deeply as he stood and nodded himself; then followed the younger woman out of the room. "Veroncia wait." He called out to the fast paced woman ahead of him. He jogged to catch up to the angry and upset Veronica Lodge.
Veroncia stopped in her tracks and swung around him. "I should fucking haul off and deck you right now Chic Cooper." She hissed through her teeth.
"Then do it." Chic simply opened his arms wide waiting for her to hit him.
Veronica's fists clenched at her sides tightly. "You know why I can't do that to you."
Chic sighed as he remained waiting. "If it will help you release some of that raw anger … then she would understand." He said with tears shinning in his eyes.
"Hitting you won't bring her back, Chic." Veronica managed to get out as the all to familiar lump formed tightly in her throat. "Letting my anger out won't bring her back."
Chic lowered his arms and stepped forward. "Holding onto your anger isn't healthy, Veronica. Betty would want you to remain healthy."
"She's dead Chic." Tears fell down her cheeks as Veronica looked into the deeply sadden eyes of Betty's older brother. "Nothing will change that fact. Nothing will change the fact that someone decided to murder her. Nothing will change the fact that someone deemed that Betty wasn't important enough to contiune to live." Her finger nails bit into her half moon cresents palms. She needed to feel the skin break; she need to feel the blood start to spread against her skin.
Chic tried to keep the sob from bursting forth from his lungs.
"I'll never forgive Archie Andrews." Death was in Veronica's dark swirling iris's. "If he hadn't asked Betty to help him … then Betty wouldn't have been trying to find out where that fucking leak was coming from …. then Betty would still be here with us. With me." She smiled thinly at the feel of the blood against her clenched fingers.
Veronica breathed deeply. "I'm so done with this fucking shit. Don't try to follow me Chic." She swung back around and started running towards the door.
"Veronica wait!" Chic called out fear filling his voice.
Veronica stopped at the door. Her head turned to look back into Chic's eyes. She smiled bitterly. "Don't worry Chic, I'm not going to end my life. That would just cheat Betty's love for me. I'm not going to look for trouble either. I just need to be alone to clear my head right now."
Chic stopped in front of the broken young woman. "Just don't be away too long Ronnie." He spoke in soft sad understanding voice.
"Tell Polly that I'll spend time with the twins when I get back." Veronica nodded and pushed to the door open; she walked outside; and walked down the street with a straight tight back.
"Oh Betty please keep her safe." Chic prayed to his dead sister. He watched until Veronica was out of sight.
