A Magical Encounter

The streets of Duckburg were busy with the chaos of shoppers and street performers when Gladstone came to town. He was making his way to work when he bumped into a young woman wearing a black dress and matching black heels.

"So sorry about that miss." Gladstone quickly apologized to the lady, helping her up after she had fallen on the ground. Her hand was soft and when she gazed up at him he saw the most striking eyes that he had ever seen. "That was completely my fault, are you alright?"

The woman smiled and accepted his apology with a squeeze of her hand. "I'm fine thank you. You seem to be in a rush, where are you going?"

"Off to work as always." Gladstone said dully, rolling his eyes at the inevitable long meeting that would take place as soon as he arrived.

She brushed herself off and moved her black hair from her face as she said, "My name is Magica de Spell. What is your name?"

"Oh how rude of me! I didn't introduce myself, my name is Gladstone Gander." Gladstone replied quickly, tipping his hat on his head to her.

Magica giggled at his flustered behavior and offered her hand for a handshake. "Nice to meet you Mr. Gander."

Gladstone accepted the handshake and found that she had quite the firm grip. "Likewise. Now I hate to be rude but I really must be off to work now. My luck is great, but I don't want to risk ruining my perfect attendance record."

"Of course." Magica replied quickly, "I must be going as well."

They gazed at each other one more time before Magica turned on her heel and left through the crowded streets of Duckburg. Her black dress blowing in the wind as she vanished from Gladstone's sight.

"Magica de Spell..." Gladstone repeated the name silently to himself. "How come her name sounds so familiar?" But he didn't have the luxury of dwelling on that question as he checked his watch and realized he only had a half hour to make it to work. So he put the question on the back burner of his mind and rushed to get to work. Not realizing that Magica was still looking at him through her portable glass ball she kept in her purse at all times.
