Again, the apartment was a ghost town in itself. And again, she cooked breakfast for one. The bus came and went, several people still wearing short sleeves shirts, despite it being October.

Ohio State University.

Hannah admired its beautiful campus, lush green grass, which was obviously fake, but pretty nonetheless. And students sitting at tables in the commons, talking amongst each other about their party's the weekend before.

So many… People… Hannah felt like her heart was bound to erupt from her chest at any moment. Can I do this? Yes, she already had money paid for it. If she turned and left now, it would be nothing but a waste. Money thrown out the window for greedy people to snatch it out of thin air. So she swallowed the lump in her throat and moved forward, chin held down and stayed close to the border of the students. Eventually, she made her way through the rotating glass doors.

"Hello, how may I help you?" The receptionist smiled, but it looked plastered. As if she had petroleum jelly on the insides of her lips.

"I need my schedule… Ma'am."

After a moment of typing the woman asked her username to the campus website. "Hah31688." Hannah replied.

"Alright, here is your schedule and your map, try not to get lost." She said with a playful wink. Hannah smiled lightly, the woman really did know how to make it more uplifting than it really was. Must be a gift. "Thanks. I'll try not to."

Meanwhile, with a certain group…

"Andrew, why did we come this early again? Classes don't start till 9 o'clock." Kyle sat slumped over his seat with his head down on his arm. Andrew on the other hand sat up with his chin held high and his arms crossed.

"To get a good parking spot."

Kyle huffed. "Ever wonder what happened to that girl we met last weekend?" He looked up to his friend who looked off to the distance as per usual.

If there was a way to stop Kyle from jumping out of his seat that person would have to hold him with iron chains because when he jumped, he leaped. "What?!" His eyes the color of honey, searched the sea of figures looking for that head of tousled curls and cerise colored hair. Then he found her. Her shoulder length strands falling lightly on her violet-blue jacket.

"What are you waiting for? Come on!" Kyle dashed to meet the woman completely disregarding what Andrew was saying.

"Wait! Slow down, you don't want to startle her." Again, once Kyle had his mind set on something it was harder than breaking a hellhound to stop him. Andrew knew that Hannah had caught sight of Kyle, if her staring frozen in terror didn't say it out loud. Andrew moved to catch Kyle, but it was much too late… A bag and some paper went flying in the air followed by Kyle collapsing on top of the tall woman. Their lips weren't close, actually, his lips were closer to her forehead.

"Get off her." Andrew yanked Kyle back by his collar. "You're so reckless," Andrew moved a hand towards Hannah. Piercing, icy blues scanned warm, cocoa bean ones. They were warm, just like summer. Like a fire in the snow.

"Are you okay?" Kyle asks his eyes concerned. He felt bad. He had just ran over a woman. Someone smaller than him. Almost as tall, but still smaller altogether.

"Yes… I'm fine."

Kyle looked from a nervous Hannah to a piece of paper on the concrete. Her schedule. "Oh?" Burly fingers retrieved the parchment and his lips tugged as his eyes absorbed the information on it. "Hannah – The rest of the name is scribbled out." Hannah now felt more than a little intruded. She had scribbled out all but her first name to keep prying eyes away from her information. "Nice classes too."

She squeaked pushing Andrew away and taking several steps back. "Wait, what's wrong?" Kyle's look softened to that of an innocent dog's.

"Maybe you invading her privacy?" Andrew commented surely as if it was obvious. Funny thing is, it was. She picked up her backpack, throwing it across her shoulder. "Please, give me back my schedule." When Kyle had gotten done teasing her about her classes he handed it back to her, but it took a while. A good ten minutes at least. "Fine, fine." He smirked. "You are new here, aren't you? Cherry?"

Hannah blushed a dark shade of pink that was not very flattering on her skin. "That's not my name…" She faltered. The boys were all too quick to realize that this new girl was quick to get hot under the collar. It was her first day, after all. Andrew checked his watch. "Hey, it is almost nine." With that they pointed Hannah in the right direction of her classes.

Hannah was eager to eat lunch. She had brought leftovers from that night before. Broccoli cheese and rice casserole with pork chops drenched in a delectable sauce of dry ranch packets and cream of chicken. "Wow Hannah, that looks good." Kyle comments startling the girl. "Smells good too." Andrew sniffed the air. The aroma was pungent and nearly was enough to make his stomach prefer the home cooked meal over the burger and fries he had laid out.

"…Thanks." The young woman murmured, though she appreciated the company, didn't want any. In fact, it made her quite jumpy.

The meal was full of Kyle's constant chatter and little comments here and there from Andrew. Hannah was the one who was most quiet out of the trio, given her nerves and she didn't want to make a fool of herself like she had earlier that morning. After eating lunch they had time to kill before their two o'clock classes.

"So what do you want to do?" Andrew asks to which Hannah already knew her answer. She wanted to go home. But she also didn't want to be alone.

As she started to walk away Kyle lightly clasped her frail hand in his strong one. "Wait. I'm sorry for earlier…" He adjusted his hand to the back of his neck, eyes veering to the side. Drawing her hand to her chest in a fist Hannah replied almost in a whisper. "It's fine. I'm leaving."

Kyle watched forlorn as she got farther and farther away from him. Andrew walking closer to his side.

At the end of the day, Instead of going home like she originally intended, she decided to let her feet lead the way around campus. Footsteps echoing on the pavement and totally unaware of the person following her. 'I wish… I could get over this. I wish I didn't have to be so alone at home. Coming home to nothing but air, cooking for no one but myself. Only doing my laundry… No one to talk to in person… It gets lonely, but with my social anxiety…' She blew out a harsh breath throwing a fist to the side and trying her best not to refrain from stomping her foot. She couldn't help it, she was just so frustrated. If only she hadn't developed the anxiety… Maybe things would have been different. She could have played with other children on the playground. Could have answered more questions in class and participated in group projects easier. Could have accepted her crushes feelings from long ago… Suddenly, she became ashamed of her behavior. She was throwing a tantrum like a small child… It wasn't like she was ungrateful to have a roof over her head and food in her belly, she was tired of having a family that was never home. It didn't feel like family.

"Young lady, what's wrong?"

Hannah turned slowly, eyes stinging from the emotional pain she was feeling in her soul. But her soul didn't feel complete. Not even close to being whole. The woman standing before her had hair the color of Mahogany in wavy curls of normal length. Her eyes were a dull ivy green, with small features showing just how much she had changed since her teenage years. "Come now," She embraced Hannah in a captivating hug. "What's making you so upset, dear?" This just made Hannah want to cry more than when she felt she was alone. "Here," The lady held out a bracelet. One with little trinkets and charms on it. A crescent moon, a star, a heart, some books, a bird, a wolf, and… A black dog. a few beads in between each one…

"What is this?" Hannah sniffed gently holding the jewelry with her fingers.

"That, my dear is a charm bracelet. When I felt down, my mother gave it to me and told me it can make your deepest wish come true. It never worked though, but I want to cheer you up like she did me. And whenever you get sad, you can look at that and think about this moment." The woman advised. A smile crossed the younger woman's face. A gift… From a stranger no less.

Drying her tears Hannah turned to the woman. "Thank you… I'll treasure this moment forever!"

The woman smiled and watched as the now happy blonde walked away looking at the bracelet that now adorned her wrist with every step.
