'Think happy thoughts,' Toph thought to herself. 'Nice, calm, happy thoughts!' She breathed deeply, horrified by her lack of bending.

Ever since Toph had begun dating Sokka, she hadn't been able to bend even a single pebble. She cried for days, all of the time Sokka feeling it was all his fault. "Toph?" he called to her, grabbing her shoulder.

Toph wouldn't respond. She wouldn't hug her love. She wouldn't eat. She wouldn't even sleep. "Toph!" Sokka yelled. Nope. No respond. "Fine, then. I suppose you'd like to break up?"

"That isn't it. Sit down."

Sokka placed a stool next to Toph's chair by the windowsill. "My bending..." She gestured to her useless hands. Sokka grabbed them and picked her up off her feet.

"Toph. You are a beautiful woman." Sokka especially liked the fact Toph had grown her hair out, giving her a mature look. "You do not need bending to love, or to live for that matter."

"Oh, right. Sorry."

"It's fine. Just promise me you'll come down to breakfast tomorrow morning."

"I will."

Sokka kissed Toph's forehead and sit on the bed. "Will you be joining me tonight?"

Toph stood and walked over to her side of the bed. She pulled the covers over her head, wanting as much as she could to encase herself in her own bubble of personal thoughts. WHY had she promised to go to breakfast tomorrow? She agreed with herself and decided to tell Sokka she wasn't going to go down to breakfast, until her crawled under the covers with her. "Whatcha doing?"

"Going to bed," Toph muttered coldly. Her eyes drooped but she couldn't fall asleep. She felt bad how she yelled at Sokka. He had popped his head from under the covers and was most likely asleep already. She wrapped her arms around him. He flipped over, facing the earthbender.

"I liked it under the covers," Toph whispered.

"Me too."

The two were under the covers so long beads of sweat dripped from their faces. Sokka wiped them off of Toph's face and she smiled. "Thanks, but I could have done that myself."

"Hey! I'm always happy to help."

Toph smiled weakly as she placed her feet on the floor and slid them into her slippers. "You might want to put some clothes on, Toph."

"Oh. Right." Toph blushed. She slipped on her long green skirt and light green tank top just as Aang and Katara opened the door. Sokka blushed nervously and slid under the covers. "DON'T YOU KNOCK?!" Toph yelled. She was so furious she wanted to punch slabs of earth at them, but sadly she couldn't. Instead, she stomped all the way to the doorway and slammed it shut.

Sokka pulled his jeans up, uncovered himself, and smiled at Toph. "Thanks," he said. They held hands and walked down to the kitchen for some breakfast. Sokka saw Aang and Katara chuckling, quickly stopping as Toph entered the room.

"Don't you KNOCK?!" they mimicked. Toph had had enough. She crept along the wooden floor, stopped at the edge of the couch, and stomped her foot, sending the couch through the roof.

"Toph! Your bending!" Sokka exclaimed as she ran over to her and hugged her.

"It's back!" she replied. She put her hands to her side and squeezed them together. A large stone wave came from the north, Katara reacting fast. She turned the wave to water, Aang motioning it aside. They laughed at their victory.

Too bad they didn't see Toph's rock monster coming their way.

It knocked them to the ground, sending Toph and Sokka into a laughing fit. "That's how you do it," Toph said happily.

"This isn't over," Aang yelled.

"Oh, but I think it is."
