Evelyn Greene Rolling in Deep Thoughts
Chapter 1- My Crazy Mind Reading
The minute she stepped into Camp Jupiter, Evelyn Greene immediately wanted to teleport herself back to Olympus.
However, she knew she didn't have that form of resolve; she couldn't input her selfish desires and let her friends down, especially Annabeth. The thought of escaping this agony was extremely tempting, considering all those thoughts, feelings, and sensations that were swarming in her head like a bunch of pesky mosquitoes.
In the past, Evelyn would've radiated in pride if seeing her current ability of reading people's thoughts at its peak, but even so, frequently her power proceeds to be uncontrollable and ventures to irreparable extent. In plain terms: there was no stopping it. Every little loose thought enters her mind, from how one person secretly likes their Oreos with peanut butter, to how another stole a gladius from the weaponry, to how one girl thinks that Percy's green eyes are dreamy.
That last thought completely froze Evelyn in her tracks leaving her pale hands visibly shaking. Percy is here. The thought of Percy being at a Roman camp was not a new or surprising concept. Everyone had accepted that common knowledge for months already, and planning on coming and working together with the Romans was a mutual endeavor for the Greeks. It had been unbelievable for Evie, of all people, that she couldn't find Percy when camp needed him the most, even with her crazy powers.
Now's not the time to feel sorry! If you don't get the message through to these idiots, everyone would be annihilated by the wrath of Gaea; it'll be apocalypse before you even have the chance to blink. Is that what you want?
Despite the succession of internal thoughts, she visualizes her friend's worried faces. At the moment of learning of Percy's disappearance, everyone's eyes became broken shards and full of raw pain, seeing the world as if incomplete. Evelyn was especially disappointed that she could do nothing to rid that. With a jolt and later a shudder, she realized she was re-experiencing the entanglement of emotions felt back then.
[Flashback]
Evelyn wanted to kick the Empire State Building so badly.
She was sick and tired of the gods' silence. After the war, they, including her mother Hecate, had promised to allow her to enhance her powers at any moment's notice. Nonetheless, Zeus has made the rash decision that the gods were too good for demigods and that resulted as the closing of Olympus.
She had tried everything to force her way to the 600th floor of the Empire State Building: teleportation, magical devices, cannons, ballistae, and even hordes of satyrs, party ponies, and rabid raccoons. Not a single one of her plans proved to be a success. She was getting exasperated, which was really out of character. Evelyn, you could say, was rather calm and collected in half-blood standard and saw no need in displaying excess emotions.
She suddenly remembered that dream she had and cold sweat started running down her neck. She tried to she shake the feeling off, though her gut was telling her that the message they were telling her was true. But she couldn't believe it, not after an entire war has just finished. However, the prophecy that Rachel voiced, it was itching in her memory. Maybe she should IM Annabeth, or else she just wouldn't be able to calm down...
Before Evelyn could even take a drachma out, she saw Thalia sweep into view from overhead, with desperation in her eyes. Instinctively she took off on one of the camps' Pegasus, following Thalia to Camp Half blood, knowing she should have listened to her instincts and gone back to check on the camp.
When they landed, Annabeth raced to them with tears in her eyes. Evelyn had never seen Annabeth cry before, even when everyone thought Percy was dead… Percy, oh gods. The dream just couldn't be true.
"I couldn't find him anywhere," Annabeth said, while trying to control her facial features.
"Don't worry we'll find him," Thalia reassured her, but it seemed she was trying to reassure herself as well.
They glanced at me, and realization overtook me…
This probably goes-to-show, that us demigods won't ever get a break. My dream which came to reality is proof.
That was the point where it was confirmed that Percy Jackson, one of our closest friends, Savior of Olympus was MISSING!
