My Sunshine
Quiet. It was so quiet. Hot summer air filled the room despite the sun having set a few hours prior. Matthew sat at the end of his bed, petting the soft white fur of his pet bear cub; lost in a memory...
"Arthur?" a young blonde boy asked as he stepped into the living room. Said man lifted his gaze from the book in his hands, a startled look quickly vanishing from his face. "Alfred, why are you still up? It's nearly ten!" Arthur scolded, setting the book down on the coffee table infront of him. Alfred pouted. "But Mattie can't sleep! He keeps whimpering and crying." he said stearnly. It was silent as Alfred stared steadily into Arthur's eyes. "Fine, I'll try to cheer hum up." Arthur said, sighing in defeat.
Upstairs in the boys' room, it was obvious that the elder brother had not been lieing. On his side of the bed, Matthew held his stuffed bear close to his chest, muffling his already quiet cries in the fake fur of his toy. Arthur was struck by a wave of sadness to see the young boy so upset. He walked over to Matthew and knelt beside him, Alfred climbing back into bed ith his twin. "What's wrong, Matthew?" Arther asked, brushing waving hair of the child's face. Matthew burried his face into the bear to avoid Arther's gaze. "It's nothing. I'm fine." he said softly. "Don't lie to me, Matt. Could it be that you miss Francis?" the Englishman asked firmly, yet gently. The wavey-haird blonde made no movement or noise for a few seconds, then made a slight nod. "I-I only every get to see him every other weekend... He always sings to me at bedtime..." Matthew whispered, flinching a little when he felt his twin's arms wrap around him in a comforting hug. "Then Arthur can sing to you! Right?" Alfred said enthusiasticly. Arthur stared at them, not liking the idea of singing to them very much. "Please, Arthur?" Matthew asked timidly. The man sighed, his look softening. "Alright, just this once." he said, clearing his throat. Alfred smiled happily and Matthew stared in bewilderment that Arthur was actually going to sing. "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away. The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping, I dreamed I held you in my arms. When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken, and I hung my head and cried. You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away." Arthur sang softly, stopping when he heard Alfred snoring quietly. Matthew smiled sleepily. "Merci... Arthur..." he whispered beforing drifting off to sleep.
Matthew was pulled from the fond memory when Kumajiro rolled onto his back. The Canadian smiled, grabbing his cell phone from the edge of his bed and dialing in a phonenumber, pleased to hear a familular voice after several rings. "Hello?" "Arthur? It's Matthew." "Lord, Matt. Why are you calling this late?" "I can't fall asleep..."
Okay. Arthur... fairly OOC. D: Other than that, I'm proud of this one and the fact that I managed to resist the temtation to inclued violence some how. I hope you liked it.
