A/N: This story is very loosely based on the story Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus. Mostly the only thing taken from the movie is the idea everything else comes from my head.
"Rachel this is not up for discussion," LeRoy told his daughter.
"Your right my love life isn't up for discussion," Rachel told her father turning to stomp out of the room.
"Rachel please," Shelby cut in putting her hand on her daughters arm to stop her from leaving. "Your father only wants what's best for you."
"Forcing me to get married is what's best for me?" Rachel asked.
"Nobody's forcing you! This isn't like some arranged marriage were I'm forcing you to go marry some stranger. I just want you to go out and attempt to find love. You're twenty years old and the only time you have ever left the North Pole was when you went with me on Christmas runs. If you ever want to find someone you have to get out there," LeRoy said stepping closer to his daughter. "Your grandfather made me do the same thing when I was your age and I was just as afraid just as worried. I went and I found your mother and she is the love of my life. I just want you to find the same thing."
"A year away from home. I don't want that dad," Rachel told him.
"You think I want you to go baby. I hate this, but your father's right. You have to go. I promise you can come home every holiday and you still can make the run with your father on Christmas," Shelby told her.
"You don't have to go alone. Santana will go with you," LeRoy said.
"You're sending me away, and you're sending your head elf to babysit me?" Rachel said.
"She wouldn't be babysitting you. She's keeping you company. She's been trying to get out of the North Pole for months on vacation. This is the perfect excuse," LeRoy said.
"Fine, Dad, I'll go, and I'll even take Santana but it won't be for a year. If I don't find anybody by Christmas Eve then I come home and I don't hear another word until next year," she told him.
"That's less than a month!" LeRoy started before his wife cut in.
"We agree," Shelby said.
"We what?" LeRoy said.
"Think about it LeRoy. We force her into this she fights us every step of the way. We allow her to do it her way with our conditions there is a possibility that we can all be happy," Shelby told him.
"Okay what are our conditions?" LeRoy asked.
"She stays at the house on the outskirts of New York City that my parents left me. She spends everyday actively searching for her soulmate and Santana will report on her progress. Everyday she doesn't search is another day that she will stay and search. Do you agree?" Shelby asked.
"I agree," Rachel said holding out her hand for her dad to shake.
LeRoy shook his daughter's hand and nodded, "Agreed."
