Charlie's POV. Hint of 'The Janus List' 3x24, and 'Trust Metric' 4x1
I love math. As a professor, I use it everyday in my studies. Every equation has a meaning, every letter, word or number has a resemblance to the real world we live in now. Yet I can't imagine anything without them—they seem to reveal so much. At times they even mirror the way you feel, and help you understand the other side of things that people are not aware of themselves.
Today that awareness was personal. Never exactly thought of, or part of someone's dreams. But math seemed to discover them, nonetheless. Doesn't matter if they were written on a chalkboard, or a hospital window, it's still the same. They show you what you want; then again some times they show you what you don't.
After all, they may lead you somewhere, despite how long it took you to get there. But to believe everything has a meaning, in fact became some of our most valuable information to discovering a laid down secret of one of our own. Without it we wouldn't be sitting here trying to grasp the concept. Math is an ever growing web, a measure on a deeper level that could help us understand ourselves.
People look up to us every day, and we use our abilities to define moments that takes us out of our comfort levels, and then we make do and start all over again.
But what happens if you can't or are not willing to start again? We have the tendency to hurt others, have them hurt and betray us when we're least expecting it. So how simple would it be to say then... let's start over. How long would it take to wrap our feelings around our heads and put everything behind us, before we have the chance to explode?
Which way do we cope when we feel like we have nowhere else to run, when we feel like we really have to. Which direction do we place ourselves in when life gets the better of us? When our emotions leave us feeling like we're in the dark again, just when we thought we were coming back for air.
The truth is we may never know, but just like math--everything happens for a reason, and the only way to find out, could be where we least want to look... in our hearts, in our minds and just around the bend.
