James Potter sniggers as he slips a single strand of blonde hair belonging to Remus Lupin and pours a pinkish, small potion in a vial, all into Sirius Black's morning pumpkin juice. Next to him, Peter chortles along.
The potion in question is Erosium; a specific little love potion that causes the drinker to fall in love with whoever's mark is imprinted onto its liquid. James, having nicked it from Slughorn's storages, had also snatched some hair from Remus's bed – the boy shed like an animal! The combination of curls and concoctions will lead to what James hopes will be an embarrassing twenty four hours for Sirius.
Peter and James watch in poorly concealed anticipation as Sirius Black, frowning and shooting a grin at Remus because of his crazy friends, drinks his pumpkin juice. After coughing and Remus checking fussily if Sirius is all right, Sirius goes on with the day with his two friends following behind, waiting for a dramatic change, a profession of love and maybe some embarrassing moments between Sirius and Remus which will be told later on as a bedtime story, or a legend, or a party story that never gets old and is passed down to James and Lily's five hundred children.
Nothing happens. Sirius stays the same the entire day.
A/N: In response to a guest reviewer called Bottlebrush, my response would probably be: "James and Peter are fifteen years old, they're idiots, of course they think it's a faulty potion, out of date or perhaps they picked up the wrong one. However, us readers can deduce a whole different reason [winks]."
