The mother placed a gentle kiss upon her child's head as she gently tucked him into bed, her fingers gently pressing the sheets around him.
The boy looked up at his mother, a smile on his face, as he asked "Will you sing me a lullaby?"
"Of course" was the gentle woman's reply before she began to sing.
It was a song taught to her by her own mother when she was a child. She often dreamed about the lullaby, wondering what it all really meant.
"Hush my child
Don't make a sound
Silent as the night
Or soon we'll be found
By the ones whose goal is for mankind to fall
Named the Millennium Earl
The destroyer of us all
Throughout all time
With his army of beasts
Nightmarish monsters
On our bodies they feast
Created of souls
Of ones we once loved
Now tied to this world
Torn from heaven above
What little hope left
Now lies with those
Our only saviors
The ones that God chose
Exorcists of the Order
A compass rose on their chest
Traveling the world
North, Eats, South and then West
Cleansing the world
Of the Earl's bad deeds
Never quite certain
Where their travels will lead
Apostles of God
Help save us all
The only ones left
To bring the Earl's downfall"
When the song was finished, the mother leaned over and kissed her son on the forehead. He was silent, never saying a word, and the woman thought that he was probably pondering over the lullaby.
As the woman turned away to walk out the door, she heard a voice behind her.
"You're wrong"
The woman instantly recognized it as her son's voice, but something seemed different about it. It seemed cold.
The voice spoke again.
"You're wrong. The exorcists won't be able to stop the Earl. The whole human race is doomed to fall"
Then a loud bang and the woman fell, dead on the floor. A loving mother, killed by her own son.
Rhode giggled with absolute glee. She pat the akuma boy on the head.
"Well wasn't that fun!"
Rhode looked down at the corpse of the dead mother, her smile turning more sinister then before. She gave a short little kick into the side of the corpse.
"Stupid human. None of you stand a chance"
As Rhode began to walk away, she began singing to herself. She sang the song that the mother had sang, but with a slight change in words.
"Hush my child
Don't make a sound
Silent as the night
Yet still you'll be found
By the ones whose goal
Is for mankind to fall
The Millennium Earl
The destroyer of you all
Throughout all time
With his army of beasts
Nightmarish monsters
On your broken souls they feast
Created of souls
Of ones you once loved
Now tied to this world
Torn from heaven above
What little hope left
Now dies with those
Your worthless saviors
The ones you God chose
Exorcists of the Order
A compass rose on their chest
Destined to lose
Even though trying their best
Traveling the world
Trying to stop the Earl's deeds
Choosing the path to their death
And ignoring our heeds
Apostles of God
You'll save no one at all
There's no one now left
To save mankind's downfall"
Just a short little thing. I had the idea of the poems, which I really liked, and I wanted to write something. I decided to write a short story, but if I have time, someday I'll probably write a real story using these poems again.
