Hey! This is just an old poem by my Aunt Chrissy I found while cleaning my closet. She writes a lot of poetry. This is a poem he wrote for my great grandfather's funeral. I had wrote one, but I have absolutely no idea what I did with it, sooo, yeah. She's a really good writer. She holds the rights to this poem. Enjoy!
Good Ole Mr. James E. Sawyer
An Original Poem by Christine Palmisano
No one could fill his shoes; he was one of a kind,
Good Ole Mr. James E. Sawyer,
Father to some,
Brother to others, and husband to one.
Fifty-six years in marriage, first came one,
Then came another and before you knew it,
They had five bundles of joy in a baby carriage.
Their childen had children and theirs had some, too,
We were all close through the good and bad times,
Even when he blames you, because
The kids always did it. (Smiling)
But he was temorarily given to us,
God needed him back home,
And we knew this day would eventually arive,
But didn't realize it could be so soon.
We will mourn and we cry,
Maybe a little longer at times,
But we know that it's because someone special was taken from us.
We know he's in a better place, no pain will he no longer feel,
Eternal life with his creator, relaxing and watching down on us.
Until it's time for us to come and take our space.
The Christmas holiday we'll miss him the most,
Because he was the "center of attention" host.
With us waiting at the top of the steps, crispy bacon and
The crabmeat in our eggs.
Father, brother, grandpa, husband, you had so many names,
No matter which one it was, you meant so much to all of us,
But everyone who knew you, that you may have made smile or laugh,
Will remember you by
JAMES.
We love you,
Your family!
Well? Isn't she great? This was written either November or December of 2007. He passed in I think November. I was only about 10 when he passed. I started crying halfway through this and had to stop. But I finished, and hope you will not put hate reviews up, for I am still sad about his passing. As grumpy as he was, I loved him with everything in my soul. May he R. I. P. James E. Sawyer Sr. His eldest son, Paul Sawyer, also died a couple of years before him. His 3 remaining children are Cathy Spalt, Mark Sawyer, and James E. Sawyer Jr. We'll miss you, gramps! XOXO!
Yours truly,
Ashley M. Palmisano
