"Hey, what makes you think Captain's gonna come back?" Ivan crossed his arms. "We've been waiting here for we-..."
"Today." Boris kept his back to his teammate. "And even if it's not today, then tomorrow. If not tomorrow, then the next day. I'll keep waiting for him here, because this is our home. I don't want Yuriy to come back to an empty house."
Boris was used to Yuriy's behavior, really. He knew that Yuriy couldn't trust a single person. That's why he was so defiant towards Volkov. Yet Boris knew once Yuriy believed in something he would blindly stick to it, like with his father, or his own strength. If anything, Boris lost his ability to trust in anything or anyone a long time ago.
Yuriy on the other hand, was different. Boris knew he would follow Yuriy until the end. If he could help Yuriy attain the goal he wanted, he was willing to dirty his own hands because his captain was the one paving the road to the future. Boris wanted to walk the path Yuriy straight forwardly walked. Even when Yuriy left him behind to fight that Japanese boy again, Boris waited. He knew his captain would return.
After all, they didn't spend time growing up in the streets without picking up on each other's habits. Yuriy, Yuriy was his world. He was going to welcome his captain with opened arms because that's what Yuriy would want to see, right? Even if he would never admit it. Boris smiled while peering out into the desolate streets. It was now Boris' turn to comfort Yuriy, like the redhead had done long ago.
"Boris," Sergei was the next to speak. "I don't understand why you're doing this-but I'll stay too."
"I'll stay." Ivan tacked on. "It's not like we have anywhere else to go to."
Boris was about to reply until the sound of the door caught his attention. A smile spread across his face, as Boris rushed ahead. There stood his proud captain. Sure, his clothes were ruffled up and torn but it served to remind Boris of the past. When they had been much younger, out in the streets. Boris smiled warmly, opening his arms up.
"...Welcome home."
