For the Daily Inspirations Challenge at HPFC. Be kind, this is the first I've written in over a year, probably closer to two. I just had to put words on paper. I just had to become myself again. Even if it was just for a few minutes.
Prompt: Moonlight
Send me on my way. Round and round she spun, her arms outstretched and her head tilted back, eyes closed, her skin glowing. I watched, to mesmerized to move. Interrupting her felt like it would be a cardinal sin. Rip my throat out and let me bleed out on the cool grass. My vocal chords had no use, my eyes no sight, my muscles no reason to move. Heaven, I was watching an angel glisten under the moonlight.
Say my name again, for I am home. She whispered it again and again. She spoke so softly that my ears had to strain to hear. The sound, oh the sound, it is impossible to describe exactly what it did to my soul. Fire ignited in a hole where darkness once lived, thrived, and fed.
I feel like I lost. I would do it all again. I would do it all over again. I would. Every word, every move, every touch. The feel of her skin scorched my fingertips. Her lips left ghosts on my lips, her hair left the scent in my mind. There was no more fighting it, she had won. I was hers. Truly, completely, forever.
It's over now. The band around my finger glistens, under the stars, the moonlight of the sun. It send arcs of light alerting everyone that it's over, she had won. I was no longer who I once had been. Now I was hers. Forever.
