Brian brushed his dark black hair behind his ear, surveying the beach surrounding him. One of his best friends, Zacky, was sitting beside him.
A 3/4 full bottle of Jack Daniels was sitting in between them as they sat in the warm sand. The moon had already popped up in the sky, and the stars were shining brighter than ever. The waves were lapping onto the shore, where they laid, pants rolled up.
They were laughing at a joke Brian had told a mere minute ago.
"Dude..I can't believe he said that! Was he wasted?" Zacky exclaimed, echoing Brian's loud laughing. They both stopped, breathing heavily, their eyes sparkling.
"Probably.." Brian said, bursting into laughter once more.
Once they were done having a laughing fit, Zacky sighed and looked out to the ocean. Huntington Beach had a warm breeze coarsing through the air, making his hair flop. Brian's hair was blowing aswell, being near-shoulder length.
"So...you were great in the studio today, man." Brian said, pulling off a brilliant smile.
"Thanks..you were too." Zacky replied, smiling back. 'I love his smile..' He thought, staring into Brian's eyes. He shook his head, squeezing his eyes shut. How could he have a thought like that? It just sounded...wrong..but it felt so right.
Brian eyed him, confused. "Something wrong?" He asked.
"Huh..nah, just thinking about something."
"Thinkin' about what?" Brian replied, tilting his head back and forth, inches away from Zacky's face.
"Woah bro, too close."
"You know you want this!" They both chuckled. 'Yeah..' Zacky thought, getting angry at himself for not saying something.
He wanted Brian to know how he felt about him so bad. More than anything.
"Brian...can I tell you something?"
"Of course, bro."
"I mean..something big. You can't be mad, or think I'm weird.. I'm telling the honest truth."
"Dude. How many years have I known you? I know tons of weird shit about you. How bad can it be?"
"Oh..it's bad.." Zacky muttered under his breath. Brian raised an eyebrow.
"Tell me."
"Okay..well, it's something I've been thinking about...feeling..for a long time.."
"Brian inched closer, intrigued. "Alright, man..spit it out!"
"I love you." Brian laughed.
"Dude, I love you too." Zacky shook his head.
"I- I mean.." Brian stopped dead in his tracks, eyes wide. "I have feelings for you." The men stopped for a moment. The world stopped around them.
"Oh.." Brian said, eyesbrows furrowed. He honestly didn't know how to reply, or what to think. He loved Zacky as a brother..but did he love him more than that? He was now starting to question his feelings towards him.
Brian looked into Zacky's eyes, and leaned in, inching closer and closer. They both opened their mouths, in preparation and disbelief, and their lips locked. They held together for about 20 seconds.
Brian pulled away, licking his lips. He looked confused.
"Chill out man..it was just a kiss..nothing more.." Zacky said, his face extremely happy. Brian nodded and leaned back into his normal position.
'Just a kiss..' echoed in his head. If it was just a kiss, why did it have so much feeling? He felt a sort of spark when their lips met, unlike anything he felt when he kissed Michelle. Zacky looked over at Brian and smiled shyly.
"Yeah..just a kiss." Brian said, staring out into the sea, head full of too many thoughts.
