Dark. Everything was dark. Yet somehow through it all, something was able to see pass this blackness. From places unknown, this thing was leisurely watching a battle unfold. A battle between this entity's own pawns and the users of a power known as "Persona."

But not long after watching did the entity disregard the battle completely. Why? Because it could already see the outcome. An ending it's already seen before. Therefore, it decided to stop wasting effort into a lost cause and strive for a better one.

However, something caught its ear just as it began to do so.

"Heh, you remind me of him!"

It was not its first time hearing the mentioning of "him" through the Persona Users, but it never gave "him" much heed. This time however, it began to recollect the remarks.

"I know this feeling... I wonder why..." "Seeing you surrounded by friends reminds me of a certain someone." "My certainty deepens each time I see you. You are indeed similar to him..." "You remind me of someone precious to me..."

"In the end, I could not feel that same frisson as when I faced him..." "This is for him..."

"What...!? That air about you... You remind me of someone I knew..." "...It's strange, but he reminds me of someone. Although his fighting stance, physique, and features are completely different... He still reminds me of the one who saved us-the entire world." "You really do remind me of an old friend." "Yes... Though he's more than just a friend. I owe my life to him..."

"..."

The bright sun and the blue sky overlooked the small countryside town that is Inaba. In its final month of spring, "Inaba" decided to treat its residents by dealing out the most ideal weather for the season.

In concurrence with its weather, the situation in Inaba was just as peaceful. Since the murders ceased after the culprit was arrested a few months back, Inaba returned to being the quaint and uneventful rural town it was known as.

Yet, there was one thing that could be called "out of place" by the townsfolk.

On the Samegawa Flood Plain, there was an unfamiliar young man. A blue-haired boy unbeknownst to any of the town's regulars. He was currently laying unconscious on the hill near the river. Though he could said to be just sleeping quietly, the air around him had a deathly silence. Making passersby give him a second glance before quickly walking away, some even considered calling an ambulance. He showed no signs of waking from his deep slumber. That is until...

"...Mm..."

His closed eyes began to shake and his body began to move. Though this sudden movement could simply be attributed to he himself waking up, very observant individuals would discover that the young man did not move until something above him did.

Just for a brief second, in the sky above, a black butterfly soared.
