Munkustrap walked in that old restaurant he used to go to. It had all wooden tables and booths. He went to the counter and saw her.
"Demeter?"
"Munkustrap?"
"I haven't seen you in years." He says to her.
"My, do you look nice." She tells him.
"So do you," He says as she blushes, "What have you been doing since high school?"
"Well I have a kit now." She admits. She wipes the counter and smiles up at him.
"What's your kitten's name?" He asks.
"Jemima. Oh, there she is now." She says, pointing to the other side of the restaurant.
"Hi, mommy." She says.
"Hi, sweetie." Dem says, shrugging.
"Do I have to go to dad's tonight?" She moans. Dem nods and Jem groans.
"Who's the father?" Munkus asks.
"Macavity." Dem replies as she rolls her eyes.
"Really? She doesn't exactly...look like him." Munkus says squinting as Jem sits down and starts drawing.
"Oh...well...uh..." Dem couldn't explain anything.
"Shhh," He says putting his paw to her lips, "it's ok."
"So you know." Dem says shyly.
"I've known ever since you disappeared that night," Munkus says turning to look at Jemima again, "you didn't even leave a note?"
"I didn't know how you would take it. I mean I was a bit young to be pregnant." She says hanging her head.
"So what did you do after?" Munkus asked her.
"I ran to Macavity saying that he was the father. We got married and divorced. And ever since then I've been raising her on my own. She's so smart just like you." She tells him.
"I'm not smart. In fact, I'm really stupid. I shouldn't have—"
"No. It's my fault for not telling you right away. I was scared that I would be pregnant. I was right." She tells him.
"Look, it's fine."
"No, it's not. I knew you were the father all along and now I regret not telling you. Raising Jemima alone was pretty stupid." Dem says with an embarrassed tone.
"Well, why don't we raise her together? How old is she?" Munkus asks eagerly.
"You'd really do that?" Dem asks with the same eager tone as Munkus, "She's only five."
"Of course I would. I love you, Demeter. I've missed you for so long. And meeting you here today was the best thing that ever happened to me." He says to her. She grabs him by the collar and kisses him.
Jemima smiles and says, "So this is my daddy?"
