I was listening to the song the other day, and not only am I in love with it, but it reminded me of H/P so I figured I'd write a story that could go along with it. I wrote it at 2 in the morning when I couldn't sleep so if it sucks, I apologize.

All That I Am—Rob Thomas

"Why do you insist on being so damn stubborn?" Emily practically screamed at Hotch. "Let someone help you once in a while. That's what we're here for."

"I don't like being a burden Emily. Now if you don't mind I'd like you to leave," he motioned towards his door.

The two agents had been arguing for ten minutes now. It all started when Emily suggested she take Jack Saturday to give Hotch some time to relax, and he started snapping saying he didn't need anyone's help.

I am the one winged bird for flying,

Sinking quickly to the ground,

See your faith in me subsiding,

See your prime for giving in…I give you all that I am.

I am the sound of loves arriving,

Echoed softly on the sand,

Lay your head upon my shoulder,

Lay your hand within my hand…I'll give you all that I am.

"You're out of your mind if you think I'm going anywhere." She walked over to the couch and plopped down with force so he knew she was serious.

"Emily," he growled.

"Don't Emily me, sir! Don't you get it by now? You aren't a burden to any of us! And I wouldn't have offered if I didn't want to spend time with your son! Stop being so damn proud and let us help you. That's what family does you know!"

Hotch reached down and grasped Emily's arm in his hand and pulled her off the couch. "I'm tired of arguing with you Emily. Please just leave." He practically dragged her to the door.

She pulled her arm out of his tight grasp and quickly wrapped her arms around him. He tensed up. "Don't you understand? I give you all that I am Hotch! Let me be there for you. Let me help!"

And I breathe where you breathe,

Let me stand where you stand…with all that I am.

Hotch's head dropped to rest on her shoulder. "You aren't making this easy on me you know."

Emily smirked. "Yes…I know, but you aren't making this easy on me either. We all care about you. You don't have to do everything by yourself. It's okay to need and ask for help." Hotch nodded and Emily leaned back. "So are we okay?" she asked wearily.

Hotch gave her half a smile. "Yes, we're fine."

"Good," she pulled his head down to kiss him lightly on the forehead. "You're still burning up. Come on, let's get you to bed. You shouldn't be arguing with me when you're sick you know!" she playfully chastised him.

"I know, but you started it," he replied with a smirk that turned into a smile then he heard her gasp then watched as she shook her head. "Thanks for bring me soup by the way."

"You're welcome." She grabbed his hand and pulled him towards his bedroom. "That's what friends are for."

I am the white dove or a soldier,

Ever marching as to war,

I would give my life to save you,

I'd stand guardin at your door…I give you all that I am

I am the winged bird for flying,

Sinking quickly to the ground,

I'm a blind man for a watch dog,

I am prime for giving in…I'll show you all that I am

Hotch climbed back onto his bed and after Emily covered him up and started to straighten up to walk away, Hotch's hand darted to hers and grasped it lightly in his own. "Sometimes I think you go above and beyond the call of duty for friendship and I'll never forget it Emily."

Emily leaned down to place another light kiss on his forehead. "I hope not. Now try to get some sleep. I'll see you tomorrow sir." She walked out of his room and apartment knowing she'd do anything for him. Even give her own life for his and it would all be worth it. Maybe one day when he's better, he'd see she was there all along and return her feelings, but until then she'd wait patiently for him to figure it out.
