It was just another afternoon at Hogwarts. The sun was bright, the birds were singing, and everyone third-year and up was trapped inside studying hard for exams. Well… some were studying while most were staring at textbooks and old homework assignments hoping to absorb something before exams. This included a particular trio of friends. Hermione, Harry, and Ron. Hermione was one of the ones actively studying by going through flashcards and working on practice problems for her 11 exams. Harry and Ron were… not.

The two of them were flicking little triangles of paper at each other and driving their bushy-haired friend up the wall until she, too, decided that she couldn't focus anymore.

"Perhaps we could go outside for a bit," she said.

"Finally," Ron sighed.

As they began to pack their things up, the windows flashed and a rumble of thunder rattled the castle.

"Or not…" said Harry, sitting back down.

Hermione rested her chin in her hands and looked at Harry.

"Can I try on your glasses?" she asked.

"My glasses?" he repeated. "Why?"

"I dunno," she said. "Just curious, I suppose."

"Well… okay." He took them off and passed them to her.

Hermione put them on. "Wow… your vision is… awful."

"I know," he said.

"How do I look?" she asked.

Harry squinted at her. "I have no idea."

Ron stifled his laughter but ended up snorting so loudly, Madam Pince shushed him.

"I want to try them on," he whisper-shouted and took them off Hermione's face.

"You look dreadful with glasses," she giggled.

"They didn't look any better on you," he shot back, nudging her playfully.

Harry rolled his eyes. "Okay, give me back my glasses, my head is starting to hurt."

"Sure thing, mate," said Ron.

It might not have been the break they were looking for, but it was little moments like these that were treasured amidst the normal chaos of their lives.
