"The end," Splinter read. His wiry tail swished as he closed the children's fairy tale book. It was one of the rare treasures he'd found in the sewer after it'd fallen through a grate from the above world.
He smiled wistfully as he gazed over his slumbering sons and began tucking the blankets more snugly around them. Like Mikey, he'd once believed in fairy tales. He was old enough now to know they didn't exist, but he didn't miss the fantasies for reality spent here with his sons was far better. Smiling happily, Splinter kissed his sleeping sons good night.
