I only own Jackson.

Once again, a story came to me inspired by my nephew. I was having lunch one day with him and my sister, and I thought about how picky he used to be with his food. I wondered how Jackson would be trying something new. So, of course, I had to write it! Hope you all enjoy, and please review!

Greg and Morgan decided to try a new restaurant for lunch one Sunday, so they and Jackson were at a diner with a 1950s motif. The restaurant wasn't too crowded, so they got their food fairly quickly.

Jackson gazed at the grilled cheese sandwich the waitress set at the table for him. "Looks good," Greg said as he picked up his own sandwich.

Morgan gazed at her cheeseburger and smiled. Greg smirked and leaned over to Jackson. "Think Mama can eat all that?"

Jackson smiled. "We can help her, Daddy!"

Morgan laughed softly and poured some ketchup on her plate. Jackson watched as she swirled an onion ring in the ketchup. "What's dat, Mama?"

"That is an onion ring. They're good with cheeseburgers."

Jackson didn't like onions, and scrunched up his nose. "Dose are onions? Blech!"

Morgan laughed as she put the food in her mouth. "Honey, they're really good."

"Your mama's right," Greg said as he finished a bite of his sandwich. "You want to try one?"

Jackson looked at Greg as if he'd lost his mind. "Dere icky, Daddy!"

"They're not icky," Morgan insisted with a soft smile. "You like fries when you eat hamburgers, right?" Jackson nodded. "Well, these go just as well with hamburgers as fries."

Jackson shook his head and took a bite of his own sandwich. "But dey onions."

Greg smiled softly and picked up a small onion ring from Morgan's plate. "May I?" Morgan nodded. "I tell you what, Jacks. You try a small onion ring. Just try one bite."

Jackson looked at the food. It didn't look like the onions he was used to. "Dey okay wif you, Daddy?"

"Yes," Greg said. "You just have to try one bite. If you don't like them, you don't have to eat them."

Jackson stared down the onion ring and took it from Greg.

"You want a little ketchup, honey?" Morgan asked. She offered him some ketchup off her plate.

Jackson swirled the onion ring in ketchup and looked at Greg. "Jus' one bite?"

"Just one," Greg reassured him.

With a soft sigh, Jackson took a bite of the onion ring. To his surprise, it wasn't as icky as he thought. "Mmm!" He said as he munched the food.

Morgan and Greg both smiled softly. "You like it?" Morgan asked.

"Dis is yummy!" Jackson said. He looked at Greg. "You sure dis is onion, Daddy?"

Greg laughed softly. "Yeah, I'm sure, Jacks. You like it?"

Jackson nodded and finished off the onion ring. "It good, Daddy. Thank you."

"Thank Mama," Greg said. "She's the one who ordered them with her burger."

"Thank you, Mama! You order good food!"

Morgan laughed softly. "Well, thank you, sweet pea, and you're welcome!"

"Can I hab anudder?" Jackson asked.

"Just remember to eat your sandwich, too," Greg reminded him.

Jackson liked the onion rings so much, Greg and Morgan ordered a small side of onion rings just for him. The little boy happily ate them and his sandwich.

"Daddy, dat was yummy," Jackson said as he finished his food. "Can we hab onion rings again?"

"Maybe another time," Greg said as the waitress brought their deserts of ice cream sundaes. Jackson eyed the sundae in front of him and smiled. "I think you've earned it," Greg said. "Especially since you finished all your lunch."

"And you tried something new," Morgan added with a warm smile.

Jackson happily scooped some ice cream onto his spoon. "I like dis lunch," he said as he began eating his ice cream.

The End.
