Duplicate Tenth Doctor (a.k.a., Handy) / Rose Tyler
Claustrophobia
He called himself John Smith now, because "the Doctor" is a title that does not fit him anymore and that belongs to another man in another universe. Rose had made a few teasing jokes about his creative choice of name, but he liked it and it fitted better than any other name. It wasn't perfect, but he was human now and so nothing probably ever would be.
That was brilliant.
Well, at first. At first everything was brilliant. Fantastic. Wonderful. Good. At first everything on earth was fascinating. Being human was fascinating.
And then he got used to it.
Of course humanity never ceased to amaze him, like it never had before, but he remembered why the Doctor wandered through time and space and never visited one era on Earth more often than necessary. Because it became bleak, because after a while things that he knew should amaze him to no end, just didn't.
The part of him that was Donna and the part of him that was the other human John Smith and the part of him that was the Doctor's domestic side, quite enjoyed the ordinary life he now had to lead. Enjoyed living with Rose and her family and dealing with everyday obstacles.
There was however another side of him, the side that had always made the Doctor run, travel, discover. And that side was slowly driven mad by the continuity of human life.
He worked for Torchwood and that was pretty interesting, fighting Aliens, saving the world. A bit like his old life, the one he admittedly had never lived, but still remembered. But it was on Earth, it was always on Earth and there was never enough place. Sometimes everything was too small - their bedroom, the house they live in, the Torchwood institute, the whole planet.
Sometimes he just wanted to run away.
But then Rose took his hand and he forced himself to breathe. Her hand was warm in his and suddenly the world seemed to be a bit bigger.
