A Pasbs de Cicle
(The Daughter of Mysteries)
by WriterGoddess
Well, this is my first fanfiction here. I am pleased that an idea for an Ice Age story came to me first. Bear with me through the (hopefully) long story.
Note: The title is in Enochian, an ancient language I stumbled upon by accident. I'm trying to learn it.
Disclaimer: I do not own Ice Age, Ice Age: The Meltdown, or any of the wonderful characters.
Diego crouched low. He did not take his eyes off of the unsuspecting deer that was drinking from the stream. Carefully, he took a step forward. The deer didn't seem to notice anything. He took another step towards his soon-to-be meal.
Suddenly, the deer sniffed the air. Confused, because the wind was blowing towards him, Diego sniffed as well. There was a new scent on the breeze. The deer started to run. Determined not to lose it, Diego leaped after it.
At the same moment, a figure leaped out of the other bushes. Neither had time to stop before they collided. The deer fled. Angrily, Diego managed to untangle himself. He then got a good look at who had chased away his dinner.
It was strange. She looked like a saber, but not one he had ever seen before. She had coal-black fur, and ice-blue eyes that sent a shiver through him. The fury that was in her eyes added a deeper cold to her expression. "Thanks a lot!" she snapped. "Now my dinner's gone!"
Diego's temper rose. "Your dinner? You were stalking it upwind!"
The female saber's ice eyes flashed. "The wind changed on me," she replied. "Now, be on your way. I need to find something else to eat." With that, she whirled around and stalked away. Diego watched her, then headed his own way, appetite gone.
Diego cautiously approached the cave where his herd was residing currently. Crash and Eddie had somehow made a sack out of leaves, and every chance they got, they ran down to the river and filled with water, which was then 'accidently' dropped on the poor creature entering the cave. Luckily, the opossum brothers seemed to be out at the moment. Diego then settled himself away from the entrance, so that if a water bomb was dropped, he could nap in peace.
"Hey Diego!"
Diego groaned. 'So much for peace,' he thought as Sid entered, munching on some leaves.
"We've been picking some sweet leaves. I know you're a carni and all, but you should - Diego, what happened to your shoulder?!"
Diego looked to see what he was talking about. There was a shallow but long cut along his shoulder. Diego shrugged. "It's nothing. I probably just got it while I was hunting." Or when that girl ran into me...I probably cut it on a rock or something.
Sid looked at him strangely. "What were you hunting, a rabid bear?"
Diego shook his head. "I don't want to talk about it," he said firmly. With that, he settled back down. He didn't look up in time to see the she-saber quickly walk by in the bushes. He wasn't awake long enough to realize that Crash & Eddie had put a water sack right above his head.
Chapter 1 is done. It's short, but I like it. Let me know what you think. I'm also always open to suggestions on where you think the story is headed.
Flames will be used to roast marshmallows at camp, but are welcome anyway.
Cheers!
