Title: A Different Type of Pendragon
Prologue
Rating: T (just in case of future chapters)
Summary: Magic comes in many forms, big and small. When Shakespeare is on the run after being caught poaching, Merlin has a chance to develop William Shakespeare's power over words and bring a sort of magic back into the lands of Elizabethan England.
Authors Comments: This story takes place right after the season 5 finale of Merlin and continue on into the age of Shakespeare. I do not own any rights to the characters in the fine BBC Merlin television series, and I cannot claim Shakespeare, a figure of history, as my own creation, either. The circumstances surrounding Shakespeare as as historical as possible, and this is more about the man himself rather than any of his creative creations. I hope you enjoy!
The view was always the same. Blue, rolling waters. The man-made stone jutting out triumphantly from the island as an eerie blue glow permeated seemingly from the land itself. The tingle that Merlin felt at the base of his skull, informing him that strong magic was nearby. It never changed. Even when the seasons passed, it seemed that nothing could touch the sacred isle of the She.
Merlin sat on the shore opposite this great isle and stared, unseeing, straight ahead. He had waited. So long had Merlin been patient, guarding the burial place of his beloved friend as he waited for the day when the five kingdoms would once again need a hero. Need a king. He had waited a lifetime – no it would have been almost thrice longer by now– for the day he knew would eventually come. Although he cared deeply for his lost friend, Merlin needed to move on.
