An Enchanting Kind of Danger

Prologue

"Agent, you are needed in Europe, where–"

"What? No 'hi, Agent'? No 'how's your day, Agent?' Is chivalry really that dead?"

"Hello, Agent. Now, about that mission in Europe–"

"But I finished this mission!"

"Of course you did. Now, there have been reports of a possible rogue Vesper –"

"In Europe, I suppose?"

"Would you stop interrupting me?"

"Sorry. Carry on."

"Right. You are to check the area – and the suspect – for anything suspicious. Once you've affirmed that the subject is, indeed, a Vesper, you are to apprehend him and bring him back to Headquarters – preferably alive – so that we may interrogate him."

"Sure. And this'll be a solo mission, I suppose?"

"Not quite. You are to seek assistance from the Cahills in that area. Also, an agent would be dispatched to check on you from time to time. You may also request back-up as needed."

"The usual weaponry, I presume?"

"The Cahill armory is at your disposal."

"Are snakes included?"

"I assume you don't mean me?"

"Once a Lucian, always a Lucian. Isn't that right, Ian?"

"Quite."

A/N: In case you didn't surmise it, the first speaker is Ian and the second one is a main character (that's all I'll reveal about this dude/tte.) This is set a few years after the books, in a universe in which the Cahills have triumphed over the Vespers. Of course, an occasional rogue is expected.
