Chapter 1
Sabrina Grimm woke up to the sound of birds chirping. She grumbled. She hated the birds. She hated the sun struggling to show its light through her window. She hated everything. But mostly: she hated Puck. Usually when he did a prank on her she would yell at him, get in a sword fight with him, then give him the glare for the rest of the day and get over it.
But yesterday was the worst. She wasn't sure if she would ever be able to face Jo Sean again. Jo Sean was the bully at her school. He had scraggly black hair, dark eyes, and a very pale face. To her, he seemed almost emo. He loved tormenting kids and throwing them across the playground if they refused to share their lunch with him. Every kid was afraid of him. Even the kids in Sabrina's grade would avoid him and didn't dare whisper when he was around.
Except Sabrina. She wasn't the least bit afraid of him. She knew his weaknesses. But that wasn't the only thing that had him almost back off from her; it was also her strength. Even though Jo was about five feet taller than her, he didn't have much strength. Sabrina didn't think he did even at first glance. I mean, she doubted his family had a family member that put a barrier around the town and lead the rest of their descendants into trouble. She doubted he had been in a war and killed people or saw people die and trained to fight all his life. So she was pretty sure he would be weak.
And she was right. The day he stole Ricky Martin's lunch, she had stood up for him. They had gone in a fistfight and it didn't hurt when he punched her in the eye. Black eyes were nothing to Sabrina. He was shocked. Even more when Sabrina kicked him in the gut and it painfully hurt. So he was frightened of her. But then yesterday at school Puck had done his usual prank.
The last Period of the day was almost ending. Sabrina had asked for permission to go in the bathroom. And there she was, looking in the mirror. She honestly couldn't help herself. She was also surprised Puck hadn't pulled a prank on her all day. She had heard a voice above her say, "Oh look there's Grimm, checking herself out as always and wishing a boy would notice her and is ashamed because she's so ugly." She had jumped and looked up. She had wanted to one, ask him why he was in the girl's bathroom. Two, deny she was looking in the mirror. And three, wanted to yell at him.
But she never got a chance to. A whole bucket of stuff had fallen on her. It was all over her face. The odor was horrid. Gasping, she ran to the sink and tried to rinse it off.
Puck had laughed. "Oh that stuff sticks on pretty fast. I'd say, the minute it lands on something or someone."
She looked in the mirror. It looked like she had on a mask of cement. The stuff was the color of pancake batter, but she was pretty sure it contained glue, rubber, and a foul thing combined together. She wasn't sure how she could go into class looking like this. Luckily, the bell had rang. She had dashed out of the bathroom, forgetting for a brief moment about the incident. She was walking on the front lawn of the school, when she heard another familiar voice say, "She's so much uglier than I remembered."
She had looked, and through the mask of the goo, she saw it was Jo Sean that had spoken. He was standing there, snickering at her and her misfortunate happenings. She had glared and raised her fists. Jo didn't flinch the way he normally did. Before she could say or do anything though, Puck had come over.
"Wow Grimm, you seem to have some courage today," he said. "After all, normally you would care and huddle in the corner bawling your eyes out on how ugly you are."
Jo Sean smirked, now knowing what Sabrina wasn't capable of defending. And he had started taunting her.
She tried not to look bothered, she normally wasn't, but unfortunately, going to 13, she was starting to get hit more on words of her beauty lately. Her eyes had watered, to her anger, and she had run away. And the worst part was, people had seen. A crowd of kids had seen the girl with the cement mask run away, not from getting bullied by being thrown around, but from words. Sabrina Grimm had been bullied by being called ugly. And it was all Puck's fault. Sighing, she rolled over in bed. She was upset she had let that happened. She looked at the clock, 9:40. Well, she thought. I can't let this last long. That fairy boy will pay. And she stood up, and went downstairs to the kitchen.
I think this chapter's better now, since it's not just only two large paragraphs. I'm glad I was able to fix that.
