They say Harry is so much like James, and that was why he fell for Ginny. But Minerva McGonogall knew better than that. Ginny was so much like Lily, it would have been impossible for Harry not to fall in love with her. And added to that, there was the Potter curse. Everybody even slightly close to the Potters knew about it.
And after all, if you took a strictly logical look at it, it made perfect sense. James had loved Lily, and Lily had never noticed him, even though he was a heartthrob in his own right. Ginny loved Harry, and Harry never noticed her, although Ginny was a very attractive witch for her year.
James had loved Lily from the moment he set eyes on her. Ginny had loved Harry since the moment she heard of him. After years of asking her to Hogsmeade and being denied, he cooled down, dated other girls, even if his heart always belonged to Lily. Ginny had been unable to talk around Harry for years, until Hermione advised her to date other people and act normal around him. And even though she did, everybody knew that Harry was the one for her, even if Harry himself didn't know it yet. James was mischievous. And to an extent, Ginny was to, if not as bad as the Marauders. So really, it wasn't Harry who was like James and Ginny who was like Lily. It was Ginny who was like James and Harry who was like Lily. And in the end, James got the girl. And Ginny got the man. So really, who could begrudge either couple their happy ending
