Yet another Isa fanfiction... I saw the ending of Dream Drop Distance and HAD to write something.

*CONTAINS SOME SERIOUS SPOILERS FOR DREAM DROP DISTANCE.*

Isa somehow knew from a young age that he was 'special'. He wasn't sure how special, but he knew.

As a child, he was a quiet, yet curious, young boy. He was always asking questions. Not simple ones, like why the sky turned red at sunrise and sunset, but questions about the will of people. His parents didn't know how to deal with it.

It wasn't until he met Lea that he finally found someone who understood. They met in 6th grade, instantly becoming friends after Isa got Lea out of trouble with the teacher. Despite their differences, they both shared a deep understanding of the world around them and always questioned it.

And that's when they decided to break into the castle.

Rumors had it that experiments with hearts had been happening in the basement. The two of them itched to know how and why such things were happening. So, every Thursday, they'd attempt to sneak in. They'd never get very far, however, as the castle guards were always expecting them. Until that one day; the day Isa became Saix and Lea became Axel.

Isa doesn't like remembering that day. That's when they made the plan to overthrow the organization, one member at a time. As most of you know, it didn't work. Axel and Saix both died.

When Isa was reborn, he wasn't sure what to do. He longed to go back to his childhood, where he and Lea were still friends. But Xehanort convinced him to not think that way.

"It's time to move on," he had said. "Axel betrayed you, leaving you in the dirt for a childish dream."

"Aren't you angry at me me for trying to overthrow you, though?"

There was a long pause. Finally, Xehanort answered; "You are now a part of me. I forgive you, for you have found your true fate"

Fate.

At first, Isa hated that word. But it grew on him, tempted him to become better, stronger, smarter. He was going to one of the most powerful beings in existence. And what would fate bring Lea? Happiness was for fools.

He had accepted his fate; the fate to be one of the thirteen members of darkness.
