Author's note: I was so happy that the bill in New York passed that I had to write this.

"Hey what are you guys watch–" Mark began as he entered the room.

"Shhh Mark. This is important!" Callie interrupted.

"What are you watching?" he asked Arizona, quietly this time.

"We're waiting to see if the bill that creates marriage equality passes the New York Senate," she answered.

"A bill that legalizes gay marriage in New York?" he asked to clarify.

"Yes. Now shush! I can't hear what they're saying," Callie exclaimed.

Mark knew that this was a milestone. A big moment. Their own state of Ohio didn't recognize same-sex marriage, and goodness knows that they weren't close to legalizing it anytime soon. But, even if there are already 5 other states where it's legal, New York is different. It's large enough where it can be an influence on other states, hell even the federal government.

Mark's inner thoughts were interrupted by his daughter poking him.

"They're about to announce the result of the vote," she said.

"The result is 29 nay, 33 for it. Congratulations." the man on screen announced.

"Oh my god!" they all yelled.

While Callie and Arizona hugged each other dancing around, Mark squeezed his daughter in a hug, picked her up, and spun her around off the ground.

"Dad!" she said. "Dad do you know what this means?"

"Your mothers could get married in New York! Legally! Not like they did back in Seattle, but really really married!" he said.

He looked down at his daughter. Her eyes were brimming with tears as the news really hit her.

"And you, Sofia, can get married in New York," he said softly as tears streamed down his face. "You can marry Brittany in New York."

After her father said this, Santana broke down crying. She could do it. She could go to New York for college with Brittany and get married.

"And you know what Sofia?" Mark asked. "Maybe by the time you're ready to get married, you could get married wherever you are."

Arizona and Callie turned to Mark and Santana as she hugged her dad again.

"Someday, hopefully sooner rather than later, we can all get married wherever we are. To whomever we want," Santana said.

Her parents, all three of them, hugged her then. Soon, soon things would be better for them.
