The first thing he ever noticed about her was her skateboard.

He wasn't going to lie about it- after all, seeing a girl- an junior high girl- tear through the streets like the next Tony Hawk was pretty crazy.

So he noticed her.

And started to care.

Just a little.

And then, when it became clear that she was Sammy Keyes, the Sammy Keyes that his sister was always complaining about, he took an interest in her.

He decided to give the girl a shot.

And found, to his intense surprise, that she was interesting.

She was pretty, in a normal way, with big eyes that focused in on details like nothing he had ever seen before.

Her hands fluttered when she talked, although she probably would have gut-punched him if he ever used the word 'fluttered' around her.

When she asked for something, even the tiniest favor, her mouth would form a little 'o' that made him want to laugh.

And she had a little snub nose that made him want to laugh and kiss it- kiss it!

Ridiculous thoughts for an 8th grader.

Ridiculous thoughts for him.

But somehow, someway, he had gotten tangled up in her life and found that for some odd reason, he didn't want to find his way out.

She was interesting, funny, smart and god, such a riot when she was embarrassed- it would have been impossible for him not to fall hard for her.

Sometimes he felt that he would follow her straight off a cliff if she asked him.

It was a crazy web, it was, with their parents and her living conditions and his nutcase of a sister.

But everything that ended up happening just made him appreciate her the tiniest bit more.

She was strong and brave and willing to fight for whatever she knew was right, regardless of whether it put her in trouble or not.

And yeah, she made mistakes, but she owned up to them- sometimes when he knew he wouldn't have been able to in the same position.

She was amazing.

And he liked her.

Scratch that- he like liked her.

Or maybe even...well.

She was amazing.

Nothing like anyone he had ever met before.

And somehow, she had just ended up falling into his lap, looking up at him with focused eyes and a snub nose and a cute mouth that he couldn't stop wanting to kiss.

She was amazing.

She was Sammy Keyes and damn it, he loved her.

Oh, I had a lot of fun writing this one(: I love the Sammy Keyes series SO much, even though they are a little young for me. Anyway, I apologize if this is slightly OOC, but I tried!

Please review, I love them!
