--------------WARNING! Plot SPOILERS--------
This is just an ending to the show tonight. I can't believe they just left us hanging there to tell if Lucas really loves Peyton or if he just doesn't want anything to do with the thing called love. Now, I think know that they belong together but obviously the show doesn't so I wrote this in case that it doesn't go my way. –pouts- this is just a oneshot.

Lucas held his breath. He couldn't believe what was coming out of her mouth. He opened his mouth and closed it again. He didn't know if he had the strength to tell her to how he felt. He opened his mouth and took a chance, "And I am in love with you, Peyton."
The whole night had been hell. Going to the charity ball with an ex is never a way to even think about telling the person you love, sitting three chairs down, that you're in love with her now, and forever. He didn't know until the psycho killer Derek tried to kill her that he was truly in love. But when he couldn't just let go the thought of her being hurt, he knew. He knew that he would never ever be able to love somebody else as much as his did Peyton.
His ex asking him to go with him was just a cherry on the pile of mud. What he really wanted to do was go with Peyton but he knew he would never have the guts so he said yes. And when Payton asked him only milliseconds after, he knew he had made a mistake. A huge one at that.
At the ball, he knew that whatever was between him and Brooke was now over and everybody was just going to have to deal. He knew whom he was meant to be with and it was just not Brooke. But he had no idea how to get around to telling the one that he knew he would spend the rest of his life with, that he was in love with her. It looked like he would just have to take a risk.
But now, standing where he was, a foot across from the woman he loved, he knew that it wasn't his risk that he had to take. It was her's.
Peyton let out the breath she was breathing and smiled. She took the step forward and put her arms around Lucas. She didn't know if letting her lips touch his was such a good idea after all that had happened. She knew that whatever would transpire from this moment would have to go slowly.
Lucas lifted his head; "I love you, Peyton." He said reassuring Peyton that everything was okay, basing on his wet shoulder.
Peyton laughed or as best she good from where she was and said, "And I love you, Lucas."
Lucas smiled, not getting used to it. "Not to ruin the moment, but where do we go from here?"
Peyton frowned but lifted her head and pulled Lucas onto the bed. "We act like everything is normal except we go on dates and kiss and have fun."
"Kiss?" Lucas said smirking, "I like the sound of that."
Peyton smiled tiredly, "I knew you would but for now, can we just go to sleep? This whole day has just got me dead on my feet. We'll talk about everything tomorrow. No avoiding the subject, promise?"
Lucus nodded and crawled into bed, "I promise," he kissed her lightly on the cheek, "Goodnight, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bight."
"Goodnight," came the tired reply.
Lucas just wrapped his arms around her tighter.
