"Your character is stood up on their date, and another member of the team comes to their rescue."
AN: Okay, this is a prompt I found on a forum and I decided to give it a go. Any reviews or criticism would be greatly appreciated :).

Emily rushed home that evening after work to get ready for the important night ahead of her; a date with the man of her dreams. Okay, not quite the man of her dreams, but James was a lovely guy and Emily was looking forward to meeting with him this evening at the local Indian restaurant in the town. She showered, humming to herself as she did, smiling as she thought of the evening to come, and even used her favourite pomegranate body wash - this guy sure was special. Hours were spent agonising over her hair, makeup and outfit, trying not to cross the thin line between looking good and trying too hard.

Eventually Emily was ready to leave for the night, she took a deep breath as nerves started to fill her, and stepped inside the restaurant. Casting her eyes over the sparsely filled restaurant she noticed James was not there, disappointment creeped up on her, she had hoped she wasn't going to be the first one there.

"Excuse me ma'am, can I help you?" a waitress asked a rather lost looking Emily, snapping her out of her thoughts.

"Um, yes please, is there a table for two booked under the name of James Ayers?" she questioned. There in fact was, and the waitress proceeded to take her to the candlelit table, not too far from the restaurant and opened the bottle of white wine, pouring her a glass.

Emily sat for over a quarter of an hour before deciding to quickly text James, ensuring that their plans were still on for tonight. No longer than a minute later he had replied with an 'I'm so sorry I didn't tell you earlier, but there has been a change of plans and I'm unable to make it. -James."

She sighed, it was just her luck that she had been stood up on the first date she had been on for some time. "Well", she thought to herself, "there was no point in wasting the wine the waitress had poured." and continued to sit there, drinking it. Soon she was lost in her thoughts about how hopeless men could be, and how she was better off without them, before she was snapped out by a voice calling out her name. Looking up, she saw JJ standing next to her.

"Emily, what are you doing here on your own? I thought you said you were meant to meet at seven, it's now twenty past" JJ said, before realisation dawned on her, "oh no, he didn't stand you up did he?"

Emily replied with a simple nod, "I should've guessed it was too good to be true."

"No no no, he's missed out in this situation. Well, its a good job I decided to order myself an Indian takeaway to collect then wasn't it? How about you come back with me and we can sit and watch crappy love films, I've definitely ordered enough food." JJ proposed, glad that she could be there for her friend, but also that she didn't have to sit at home on her own all evening.

And that's how she found herself not an hour later, sat on JJ's couch surrounded by blankets, eating an Indian takeaway.

"Thank you for this JJ, it means a lot." Emily said, meaning it.

"Nonsense, that's what friends are for" JJ instantly replied. Emily smiled, thankful that she had friends like JJ in her life, that she knew she could always rely on. At the end of the day, as long as she was surrounded by people like JJ, she didn't need to worry about hopeless men in her life.
