A/N: I burnt my fingers whilst ironing my father's business shirts and I've had a terrible day. This is a little release, and my first fic. Please be kind.

Disclaimer: Rowling owns all of it.

Enraged. Yes, that was a good, solid word. To put it mildly, that was how he often felt when dealing with Lily Evans. Now, one might assume that feeling enraged by a person quite often would coincide with hatred (or at least a strong dislike). One might also assume that someone who was enraged with another human on a daily basis would avoid confrontations with said person. On the contrary, James Potter lived for confrontations with Lily Evans, and revelled in his ability to produce such strong emotions in a girl. To clarify, James was never enraged by Lily in particular, no, it was more his tendency to make a complete git of himself around her. Putting his foot in his mouth, to use a colloquial phrase.

Frustration. An apt sentiment, and an adequate descriptor for her relationship with James Potter. Frustration was a word that described the knot in her stomach that developed after a particularly brutal confrontation, or the fluttering in her abdomen that presented itself at the sight of his (stupid, annoyingly lovely) hair. Lily Evans was incredibly stubborn, and as such, refused to acknowledge the aforementioned fluttering. She preferred to think of it as annoyance, and in no way desired to have any affectionate feelings towards that toe-rag (oh but what a darling toe-rag he was). Frustration thus described both her intense hatred and developing, but censored, appreciation for James Potter.

It began, she decided, during their seventh year at Hogwarts. She did not know the precise date or the particular action that preceded the new status. All she knew was that a tenuous friendship had formed between James Potter and herself, and although she would never admit it, she was pleased. Incredibly so. More so than one would think a girl should be, when confronted with friendship form the boy she adamantly claimed to detest.

James, according to his fellow Marauders, thought differently. He claimed that it was their sixth year at Hogwarts when Lily yelled a little less and laughed a little more. Perhaps it had something to do with the way he no longer stole religiously from Filch, or maybe it was that he no longer hexed others in the hallways (unless they truly deserved it) (or unless Sirius was particularly bored that day). James did not know for sure, nor did he care. He only appreciated the way she would smile instead of scowling. But what did that matter, he was, as Peter declared, "through with Lily Evans once and for all!" But then again, what did Peter really know?

A/N: I know, this is very short, and I'm not entirely sure if there will be more. It all depends on reviews and constructive criticism. Please review and tell me your thoughts/suggestions?
