Where's The Meat?

It was early morning and the sun began to rise. Light crept over the horizon, illuminating a peaceful landscape.

Enormous mountains with peaks that seemed to endlessly reach into the heavens chains of rivers that slithered between tiny hillsides and lush forests as far as the eye could see.

Sokka and Toph had left camp three days ago. Since then, all they had to eat was two days worth of blubbered seal jerky, and the lettuce Toph brought along.

The couple strolled across an open field. Toph shoved a wad of lettuce into her mouth. It crunched loudly while she chewed. Sokka lost his appetite at the sound.

He annoyingly asked, "How can you eat that stuff anyway?"

Toph smiled then sarcastically remarked, "It's not that bad once you get pasted the leafy part." She offered him some, "Here try it."

Sokka gave it back complaining, "Suddenly I'm not so hungry."

Toph shrugged and said, "Suit yourself then."

They walked until they reached a hill, overlooking a valley below. Sokka noticed silhouettes by the river.

He eagerly exclaimed, "Hey, what's that?"

Toph picked at her teeth saying, "Nothing to worry about. It's just a harmless herd of buffalo bisons."

Later that evening she made an earth tent and drowsily said, "I'm going to catch some shut eye. What about you?"

Sokka laid out his sleeping bag and yawned, "Yep, I think I'll do the same."

he closed his eyes and pretended to snore. An hour passed, but Toph was still up. Two more hours went by and Toph had finally dozed off. He snickered, then slowly started sneaking towards the river.

Toph rolled over, making Sokka stop in his tracks.

She muttered, "No twinkle toes, this is how it's done."

she earth bended a ground spike narrowly missing Sokka.

He breathed a sigh of relief, stared at Toph, and angrily whispered, "You're lucky your asleep."

Then continued on. Everything was going great until Sokka accidentally tripped over a stone. The noise woke up Toph.

She rubbed her eyes and said, "What's going on?"

Sokka said in absolute confusion, "Uh...I almost forgot. I have to go to the little warriors room."

He motioned to a nearby bush.

Toph sat up and said, "So, it has nothing to do with those meat creatures down there? Huh..."

Sokka glanced at the buffalo bison for a second then said, "Are you kidding me."

Toph suspiciously poked her head out of her earth tent and said, "Well then, why were you tip toeing?"

Sokka's stomach growled. He was at a loss for words, all he could was drool.

Toph stood up, walked over to the bush, and said, "What's that I hear."

Sokka came out from the bush.

Toph put her ear next Sokka's stomach, "You're really hungry, and like a stubborn idiot, he's not feeding you," she teased.

Sokka pushed her away saying, "Okay, okay, stop it already. You've made your point."

Toph chuckled.

Sokka was disgusted. He'd never gone this long without meat, and her laughing only made him more determined.

He picked up his whale tooth club and said, "That's real mature Toph, but we'll see who's laughing, when I'm scrafing down on a juicy piece of meat."
